A 130mm with  50% boost to range will outrange a 152mm that lacks said boost. We are just about matching range with a 90mm thanks to rocket assisted shells. A 300mm would be able to match with something like the USS Iowa using our tech.

Range isn't all, destructive power is also important. A 90 mm might as well be a pop-gun against a battleship.

And a 152mm is also. Their battleship is outgunned by light cruisers. Never mind Heavy cruisers or Battlecruisers.

Although I would appreciate a name change to follow superior Forenian naming conventions.

I'd go with something ENTIRELY different:

Coast defense? You're kidding, right?
At LEAST mount it on a warship to start. It'd be easy enough to strip down the Archer and mount more of a midsize cannon in a single mounting on it. What I mean is go for something closer to a 250mm gun, which can be revised past 300 if we ever go battleship, and then mount it in two single mountings on Archers.

But I don't want to see that.

UF-RAD-40 Ray of Deadlier Death
Using many advancements from the outside world and our own understanding of the technology, this giant leap in radar technology utilizes cavity magnetrons to shrink the size of radar arrays so an array can be mounted on a single truck and every one of our warships. The technology is further refined in weaker versions so that short-range gun-ranging radar sets can be installed on aircraft.

Mount 2 250mm guns on a destroyer? You do realise that will capsize whenever it fires right? If we were to mount it on a warship literally only our carrier and new cargoship could carry it and not capsize on firing.
The 300mm is so that we can make a new warship for the gun next turn and downscale the guns for use on a destroyer.

A major flaw in our navy has been the lack of anything that can stand up in fight against there battleships and destroyers.
An ultra heavy battle ship would help our navy stand up to Cannala's navy and not just with draw once there's get close.

It seems our strategy of "skip battleships and rely on carriers" isn't working.

At this point, we're trying to land on islands now.  We need a decent cruiser (CL or CH), a decent lander (although cheaper salamanders may help) and cheaper jets (through decomplexification).

This...seems like two turns worth of tech before we have a decent chance of taking an island.

Let's do the 300 mm coastal gun so we have something we can scale down forever.

Then let's revise complexity off the jet to compete with the spearhead.

Next turn, we can design a Light Cruiser to compete in the ocean.

And lastly revise the Archer as a lander so we can land on an enemy island for literally the first time this game.

A result of the way the game works.

All designs only add to the battle strength, they never detract from it. The skip battleships and rely on Carrier strategy relies on the assumption that the Cannalan Carrier force is weakened to allow for the presence of their battleships. But rather than that, they get both the benefit of having carriers, and having battleships.
