I don't like designing just a gun. If we want a BB, why don't we design one?

Because we can't design the gun with the battleship without risking the gun design's failure.

Well, then why not design a BB using existing guns but planned with room for more, and then add the big guns later? Going BB and then Gun rather than Gun and then BB means we benefit this turn at sea.

Thats what we tried with the archer. It still hasn't been upgunned almost 2 years later.

Because the largest gun we have right now is 100mm. Hardly a destroyer gun, much less a battleship one.

And we'll need more than pocket battleships to succeed at sea.

I agree we need a warship, but I don't think just a gun is is the best choice here. Better to just exploit the 33% rule to get a full on ship, and scale it up later if needed. Besides the biggest we can get, 130mm, is almost as big as their own (152mm) battleship's guns. How's this?

UFS-CC-40 Pattern F "Cavalier"
Description: A medium sized cruiser with medium armor at the surface and a light torpedo belt, intended to to support fleet actions or operate independently. It is equipped with two pairs of twin-mounted 130mm gun turrets, with one pair of turrets at the bow and the other at the stern. The bow is further equipped with a Sarukh rocket launcher, partially set into the deck for compactness when not in use, to add extra punch to shore bombardment. The centermost turret on each side is taller than its twin to allow firing straight on and to reduce interference in the flight of the shells. It is further equipped with a pair of bumblebee guns at port and starboard positions next to the conning tower, with a pair of AS-AC18 autocannons on either side, to defend against enemy aircraft. It is powered by 4 steam turbines identical to those used on the Archer class, fed by four 3-drum water boilers.

I could've sworn that a while back Sensei said that we could scale up naval guns that weren't their own design up to 33% larger than our current largest gun, back when we were designing the destroyer, but now that I'm looking back there I can't actually find it to quote it for you.

The problem with scaling up does mean we do have the chance at not getting the gun. Better to downsize an existing cannon to fit.

We need air power, people. Air power delivered from a Kot CarrierTM. Although I am wary that people will hop straight to TC revision if we do get a carrier, only for us to lose air superiority when the Next Turn Cannalan Jet rolls out.

Incremental improvements means wasting actions.

We have to advance in leaps, as we did with the jets and the original carrier.

I really do like the gun, but can we triple our size in a single design?  And besides, I thought the goal of the carrier was to skip the "Heavyweight Battleship" phase of naval combat?  We currently have two fully functional designs we can't use on the sea because we don't have a decent carrier, and we need to get that 3 TC if we want to make the Thunderbird Cheap.

I updated the Tiger Star to have rocket-powered catapults and a steel deck (as a wood deck would break)

Well, we aren't going to triple the size in anything less than a full design.
