I found this old post http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=64473.0 about a Dwarf Fortress to Minecraft conversion utility, which seems to have died off, alas.

One significant annoyance is that even now a Minecraft world has a max height of 256 metres (as far as I know) and that's often not enough to encompass the possible number of DF z-levels. (Especially as I was looking at turning one DF block into a 4x4x4 or 5x5x5). But Minetest http://www.minetest.net/ is open source and supports up to a 62km cube, which would be enough for the largest embark. Is anyone aware of it, has anyone looked at its map format, looked at an updated converter etc.? I have found no posts on this subject newer than 2013 - is there anything more recent than topic 64473? I'd like to read up more, if anybody else has actually said anything...
