I'm buying the medical supplies, but I'll leave the rifle.  It's not like Ekrov's gonna be very helpful fighting.  Gold already subtracted from sheet.  Roll for my first sculpture's materials, please?

Then go and volunteer to join the rescue... army, I guess.

Ask two things of the mage-breakers.  If they think that hugging or draining mana from a person going down there would make said person more at risk of mind control, and if they'd like a magic item that provides protection from magical scrying, say, for the water-dropping group.

Speechify the accumulating army as to the mission and the basics of the plan.  Mention that there will be magical protection from mind control, but that everyone who goes down there (and earns money) must take exactly one.  Then try to help sort them into reasonable roles.

"Um, sir, Adam's spent our conversation hiding from you, so Im fairly sure he would really dislike that, and the last time a spirit was removed from me against its desires was highly unpleasant to put it in mild terms. So, as a fan of not puking blood on your floor, could we not do that?"
I don wana!
"The issue here," The man says, laying his hands on the table in front of you  and leaning slightly forward, "Is that you are harboring a spirit that you may have been born with. It may be some ancestral effect, it may be a being that simply connected to you shortly after birth. It may, in fact, be an unborn sibling.  And because it has been with you so long there is the chance that your thinking and personality is so blended with it that the you here is not truly you. You might be a Gestalt consciousness without your knowledge. Such things have been seen and generally they are not an issue so long as they are known and chosen, but they present a potentially dangerous unknown quality if we do not check.  There are more gentle methods than the field operation you endured; in fact the spirit can willingly separate itself if it desires to."

Get back into the fray and deal with the remaining pirates.

[9v3, 3v1]
You leap back out into the fray and charge down one of the remaining pirates, delivering a hard blow to his back. It doesn't kill him outright but another guard shoots him a moment later which seems to finish the job. That one seems to have been the last pirate alive or at least uncaptured.

The deck is a slippy mess of water, blood, bodies and worse. The beetles are still stomping and making strange guttural buzzing noises as their handlers try to calm them. The pirate craft, aflame, is sinking into the flux and causing it to slowly catch fire as well. The flare has run out and only the orange light of the flames illuminates the deck.

Walk around and try to find a store that sells gold rings, but don’t buy yet, just know where they are for later
There are several places that sell gold rings, though they're fairly expensive. Cheapest you find is 25 gold for a plain one.

The items you're looking for are
1. Human skull
2. 10 lbs of pure iron
3. a piece of complex machinery; clockwork or similar.
4. a bottle of water collected directly from the a cloud.
5. The blood of someone who has fought off a possession with their own will

Okie dokie. Shall we assume you told Dev's character that?

Alright. Is there a max you wanna make or just convert everything you have?

Well, into the pit I go. climb down, pick a less busy direction, and go. Look for the kinds of things people have been hauling up. and start gathering.

Spoiler: Felix Testimony (click to show/hide)
You wait till the morning and climb down good and early when the pit is less occupied. This pit was clearly some sort of lake or something at one point; there is a stream running across the pit and the entire pit itself bears the signs of having been eroded away over long periods. There is a fine white sand covering the entire bottom of the pit, though it is now dirty with the leavings of the treasure hunters. You use the footprints of these treasure hunters to follow the river downstream, branching off down smaller passages until you find one with no footprints. You walk along it for a time until you come across what looks like the smoothed corner of a stone building jutting up into the natural tunnel. Looks like this tunnel was worn away and uncovered this edge, partially wearing it down too.

Ask two things of the mage-breakers.  If they think that hugging or draining mana from a person going down there would make said person more at risk of mind control, and if they'd like a magic item that provides protection from magical scrying, say, for the water-dropping group.

Spoiler: Saeko Hirahara (click to show/hide)
1. They say that, as long as the mana taken isn't enough to impair a person physically, it shouldn't impair them mentally either.
2. They would, if possible. They have some protections against such things but they are specific in how they function.

We'll assume you can do all that without a roll, since its just basically explaining things and not trying to motivate or persuade.

Tentatively agree? I want Adam's permission first. does he have anything to say on the matter? Anything he wants to convince him to go along with this?

(Naturegirl:
Spirits don't destroy or consume the items you get them for mana.  They basically look at them, and that does something for them.  You may not need to purchase the ring to use it.)

After negotiations with Ekrov, give him the gyrotorbillion for conversion to mana.  The result is to be split evenly between us.

Next, use Strengthen to improve Ekrov's cloth armour to d6.  As per his request to conserve my mana, don't retry if it fails.

"I have another suggestion, Ekrov.  I wanted to sell that for money to pay these mercenaries.. they aren't fighting for free.  If you donate some of your money to the bounty fund, I'll pay you back twicefold later.  I was planning to change things up from being a wandering healer for a time, and explore some of the ancient ruins in this part of the world.  That's quite profitable.. I met some other mages who did that and came back with a cart full of treasure and thousands of gold pieces."

"I also think you should hang back with the entrance crew if you're coming underground.  You have an animate word, and there will be clouds of smoke and some fires burning, which should be very useful."

Also, lets make that hiding item for the magebreakers.  Buy an umbrella, and see if more umbrellas are available.  Cast a d6 strengthen reverse-view spell on it, to make it hide itself and things protected by itself from magical observation, when activated by being opened.  Then cast a Strengthen Expand spell on that spell to make the bubble large enough to hide a group of people.  Repeat this until successful.

If, counting the mana from half of the gyrotorbillion, I still have more than 15 mana, make another item.  Find a jeweller and buy a cheap necklace.  Cast one spell on it, with a duration of a week.  A temporary d6 Strengthen spell to improve the ability to recover from injury while worn.  Basically, I want a necklace that will boost people's ability to heal naturally when it's put on.  I'm thinking it'll help with malnutrition, choking from smoke, neglected minor injuries, extreme exhaustion, etcetera.  To help the worst abused people to survive, not to do major wound cures, and a temporary duration to boost it's power noticeably.

Make a second necklace if I still have more than 15 mana.

During the evening, take Benedict live-fishing by flying over the lake looking for some fish for him to try and grab with his claws or beak directly.  Do this to get him excited enough for a hug, as I haven't taken any mana from him, and if he shrinks a bit, it'll help with the very tight mineshaft tomorrow.

To finish things off, pay for a few drinks with the mercenaries.  Inform them that another 200 gold has been just added to the bounty fund, which should mean a better payday for everyone.  Go with Ekrov if he wants to observe, but don't tell them he's responsable for the money.  Try for a few mana-hugs.

Ekrov, already visibly uncomfortable in Saeko's presence, grimaces slightly at that request.  He pauses, staring at the gyrotourbillon and thinking over the request.  Eventually, he answers with a question.  "How much do you need?"

He blanches when her answer is "as much as you're willing to give!", then drops his face into his hands.  Once she expounds a bit, saying that forty gold will pay one gold to each merc, he nods, looking slightly less pale, and gives his response, his voice carefully measured--though he stumbles somewhat.  "Two hundred gold, then, and with the agreement that you ah-allow me to accompany with you, er, accompany you into these ruins, and, you guide me to the crashed clockwork vessel you mentioned earlier.  Before the ruins."  He takes a deep breath, and looks Saeko in the eye.  "I do want to help.  But, I don't know you, I can't track you, to ensure my payment I'll have to follow you.  And, ah, I'll forgive some of the debt for the trip, of course, as payment."

We have days, right?  Obtain paper and pencil and stuff, I presume for dirt cheap, and then take the gyrotourbillon somewhere protected.  Inn room or something.  Spend most of a day just drawing the device, trying to copy down its design as much as possible before melting it.  I presume that spending the whole day on it should make that relatively easy?  Eh, if the sketches are at all decent, melt the thing down into thaum afterward.  As agreed, Ekrov will keep half the mana, and pay half of it back to Saeko.

...Also, 'cause I'm curious, does Ekrov actually know what the gyrotourbillon is?  What it does?  How much does he know about clockwork mechanisms in general?

Edit:  Ekrov is adding two hundred gold to the bounty fund, and will go along with Saeko when this is announced to them.  He'll be quite clear that it's his money, and that he intends to directly support the mercenaries with his magic, as well.  Ekrov's not the standard pompous noble, but he absolutely feels that people should know who's writing their paycheck.

"Oh, two hundred gold, that's great!"  You can see Saeko bouncing around a bit, the excited young woman happy at knowing the mercenaries are going to get paid properly for risking their lives.  "I'll tell them, they'll be so happy to hear it.  Maybe some will want to thank you too?  You can come with, if you want."

She wants to hug Ekrov for his generosity, but won't do so if you hold her off.

"..Sure you can come along on the treasure hunting trip.  Was going to bring a couple others, you could come for sure.  Can show you the airship crash site, too, it was pretty near the capital.

Thank you!"

Ekrov nods, and quickly looks aside, at the gyrotourbillon when Saeko agrees.  He mumbles something about being happy to go visit the mercenaries, and how a good patron ensures that his face is known, and is taken by surprise when Saeko hugs him.  He suddenly cuts himself off with a surprised "Bwuh?!", and just awkwardly stands there frozen, his face beet red.  He smiles and laughs a little when she releases him, scratching the back of his head and looking back over at the clockwork device.

"Yes, yes, well, I'm very happy to help!  And thank you, for the... uh, device, it's very beautiful, and intricate, fascinating, very fascinating, uh.  Yes, we should go see the men now, yes?  Let's just, go do that.  Yeah."  He nods firmly, his eyes still glued to the gyrotourbillon.

Saeko sees that Ekrov wants to take care of the machinery first.

"Oh.. that's okay, you can take care that first.  I have a bunch of other things to do today too, gotta make a magic item for the magebreakers, to help keep them safe.  And then I'm going to try to make something to help keep the prisoners alive.  We can go see them tonight, before bed."

"... say, if you want, maybe I can do some magic on you too?  For return payment?"

Ekrov's smile disappears when Saeko suggests taking care of the gyrotourbillon first.  He looks back at her and nods reluctantly.  "...Yes, perhaps that's... for the best.  Tonight, then.  Before... sleeping."  He nods again, before looking back over at the clockwork machinery.  When she speaks up again, asking about casting magic on him, he startles and looks back at her suddenly, confusion and a few other emotions written chaotically across his face.  "Uh, you, do some, you--magic?  You mean, err."  He sqeezes his eyes shut, and raises his palms up toward her.  "Magical enchantments, you mean?  I think?  Ah, what sort?"
