The man knows only minor things about the tides, specifically how they intersect his nets and their origins to a degree. But he says that the treasurefisher's guild in the center of town has tide maps.  In terms of an expedition, he says that almost anyone that goes below does it through the caves around the river, not trying to go into the river itself. He tells you the people who go down are in the Caver's guild, also near the center of town. Though its a smaller group due to high, usually fatal, turn over of members.

Well then, to the treasurefisher's guild to take a look at those maps! And copy the most important parts of them if we have some more spare cloth.

Then it's off to the Caver's guild to ask for info. How do they usually do their adventures? What gear do they deem essential? What are some of the known dangers down there? And finally, is there an expedition leaving anytime soon?

Name: Zamia the Lost

Appearance: A cryptic figure, wearing a solid bone mask, and covered head to toe in furs and leather reinforced with bone, antler, tooth, horn, and all other manner of once living material. Upon closer inspection, one would notice that this figure has hundreds of beads and talismans, again made of bone and like materials, threaded on as well. This person also carries a wicked barbed spear, that seems to inflict pain just by looking at it.

Venandi Zamia is a hunter, once scouring the lands for greater and mightier beasts (and men) to fell. Zamia now uses their skills just to survive; but is always looking for path back to glory.

Ok, I'm gonna post this in all my games, it's just a quick explanation of personal circumstances.

I am currently on loan, working in a clinic out of state. I work 7am-5pm, 4 days a week. On the weekday I have off, I take my dad to chemo because he has late stage recurrent pancreatic cancer. When I'm home, I often have to take care of or do chores or errands for my dad. This means that I am pretty cramped for time right now. Posts will continue as often as I can, which will probably be 3-4 times a week I think. I'm just letting everyone know because my posting schedule is gonna be pretty erratic and there may be times when days could go past without a post. Don't worry, I'm not giving up on these games or getting tired of doing them, I'm just busy.

Oh geez.  I hope things go as best they can.

Well, learned things at least.  I didn't realize just how much emotion I needed, or that I made hand signals.  If it seems reasonably plausible (or if they're just drunk enough to believe whatever) explain the gesturing as a old way to indicate respect for an accomplished individual that I picked up in my travels.  Then stop doing it, stick around long enough to not be suspicious, and leave.

...I dunno what to do from here, really.  I don't want to actually try and influence any leaders before we've killed the Tree Shadow, and my char isn't built well for taking risky actions like hunting, or criminal enterprise.  Roll Will to figure out something useful to do, I guess?  Maybe go window shopping for items that we might find useful?

The Treasurefisher's guild is a fun place; clearly a building made with some considerable money behind it but designed to look like an oversized fishing building complete with aged wood and overhead  cranes and nets. Inside its very rustic but also very clearly the product of wealth. Odd to see a bar with 100 year old alcohol and a bar top that looks like it was torn out of a barn somewhere. You ask the members and they are initially very wary about giving you any info without you being a member. However, when you explain you want to know about the tides for an expedition underground, they seem to lighten up. Apparently, cave expeditions are small potatos compared to the business of the treasure fishers. They have a member show you the most likely source of the currents and you mark it down.

From there you head to the caver's guild. Its a much smaller building, just as  rustic looking but far more authentic in its poverty. There are far fewer members and they ask rather excitedly if you want to join. When you say you want info, they insist you join first.

Name: Nina Morellis
Appearance: A young, red-haired woman, green eyes, somewhat unkempt. She's had Adam for as long as she could remember, and has a bit of a reputation as a harmless nut. The town guard are okay with Nina though, occasionally getting her help keeping a mage secured by having her drain their mana so they can't cast. Since they don't have a proper magehunter available, having a local civilian channeler they can bring in as needed is a big help. And Nina tries to be on her best behavior with them to keep their relations good. Nina herself works as a healer, living out in the poor part of town, and has an erratic schedule based on the needs of those who want her help. so she has a lot of free time, but also gets woken up in the middle of the night a lot. add in Adam's occasional antics and she doesn't get to have a stable sleep schedule.
