Better idea. Lets NOT corrupt Ishtar's body before her wedding, an event likely presided over by some sort of corruption detecting priest.

Hopefully we can find some way to use the prisoners life-force to fix the princess. I'd rather make Ishtar a bit more influential, and then make first contact, before we do anything that seriously risks her being detected as a demon-pawn.

Though, I would prefer using a Hunt as a means of gaining ' kosher' life force.

Princess Ishtar

Perhaps it's the sense that there's something more about the Lyre, perhaps it's to stymie the feeling that she wasted good money on a worthless trinket. Whatever reason she might have had, the Court Wizard, an old, cynical and generally unpleasant man would not appreciate them. The man preferred his isolation, and would have tried to dismiss her whatever the reason for her visit. During the day, he'd lock himself up in his workshop, and at night he'd sleep till dawn.

So she went to his lodgings (placed a noticeable distance away from the palace) just as the sun was setting. The wizard arrived not long thereafter, hobbling along on his elaborate staff.  Even in the fading twilight, the effects of his magic had had on his body were clearly visible. His hair was white as sand, his skin as dried and cracked. Bandages covered his arms and legs, covering the many wounds where his skin had broken completely.

"Well, child, what do you have to say? Make it quick, I do not have all day." Ishtar grimaced, but did not react to the slight. Even nobility had to make certain accommodations for people who could blow of your head at a whim. Instead, she showed the old mage the Lyre, and asked him to identify the magical artifact. With visible annoyance, the mage cast his spell. Sand swirled around the Lyre, before falling down, just as suddenly. "There you have it. A normal Lyre. Interesting design, marvelous craftmanship, but not magical. I'm afraid I can't help you further". Before Ishtar could respond, he hurried inside his house, then closed the door with both bolts for good measure.

Disappointed, Ishtar returned, but as she walked back she could hear the Lyre hum, almost imperceptibly, the sound just at the edge of hearing.

You have embarked on the long path of attuning the Princess closer to your own, demonic powers. It'll take a while, nearly a whole year if your estimations are correct. You could do it faster of course, in fact perhaps nearly instantly, but it would have consequences. Now, you work hard to change things without changing, to keep the change imperceptible to all but the most attuned senses.

If you want speed, you will need to give that up. Rapid fluxes of power can do much, but they will leave their marks, both in the soul and  visually. With proper guidance you could almost certainly ensure that these changes would be positive, and you're certain few would recognize them as being different from any mage's mark, but it's still a risk.

The first Year of the first Age of Darkness : Spring

The harvest season has arrived. Peasants are cutting down the crops that line the river bank, gathering the food in grand fields, from where it will go on to be stored in the royal granaries. There are rumors of trouble, of famine in the Kingdom's downriver, but the harvest here is one of plenty. The merchants are happy, with prices low and demand high elsewhere, they may soon make grand profits.

Ishtar too is brooding. Her father has officially accepted the request of marriage, and she is to be married when the rivers rise, flooding the land and blessing it with it's fertility. Her temporary illness has passed, though strange dreams appear to have taken their place. She can not understand them, for they speak in whispers unknowable.

The coming of Spring means an enormous increase in activity within the Kingdom. Soon, the Priests will hold their yearly harvest festival, calling upon the Gods to bless the coming flood as they have blessed the last. But not only humans are attracted by the bounty of the land, so are many animals of the wild. For the peasants, these are persistent problem, but it does mean that prey is plentiful to the hunt. Of course, you could also visit your future husband.

Princess Ishtar
A  : Observe the Harvest Festival, a joyous occassion where all share in plenty
B  : Go for a Hunt
C  : Visit your future husband
D : Try to figure out what's going on with the Lyre
E  : Make preparations for your marriage
F  : Write -in ?

Nur-Skalen

A : Observe Princess Ishtar as she does her business, taking the opportunity to glean knowledge from everyone she meets
B : Aid Princess Ishtar in her doings, lending her your strength and intellect. Such action is draining however, and your powers in the mortal realm are very limited. !
C : Aid Princess Ishtar in her doings, by shoving a piece of knowledge into her mind. Such action is far less draining than others, but she may be distraught to suddenly speak another language, or to know about mythical beasts. !
D : Manipulate Ishtar's actions : This will open up additional actions that further your demonic ideals, or can be done just because. Using them excessively may cause suspicion within Ishtar or others.
E : Communicate with Princess Ishtar. The Princess has no idea that you exist within this gem, while you can manipulate her actions, having a willing and informed accomplice makes things that much easier
F : Speed up your manipulations of Princess Ishtar's body! (Current 1/4)
H: Delve into the knowledge of this world, learning about all that happens within it. (Ask a question)

We seem to have 'cured' the illness, and per my above reasoning, I'd rather not rush the body manipulation. Getting to know her husband will help us formulate our long term plans for both Ishtar and Nur-Skalen better.

Priness Ishtar

The mystery of the Lyre bothered Ishtar. The Court mage had said it was a worthless trinket, but it had hummed in response. Paying closer attention in the following days and weeks, Ishtar heard it several times more. Each time, while she was talking to someone, ranging from the simple servants to even her father. It was a puzzling mystery ...

In which she made no progress.

You however, pick up some interesting things Ishtar can not see. The Lyre, quite clearly, is triggered by conversation, and is undoubtly magical in nature. You have not gone much beyond that, as your work with Ishtar is delicate.

Note : So, more questioning. Would people prefer the status quo, less freedom (like other SPaM games) or more?

Sorry for the short update, but there's only so much I can write about not discovering anything.

EA

The Wedding was coming up soon, and even she dreaded it's arrival, Ishtar would not watch and let the event simply pass by. If she was to be wed, it was to be her ceremony, her celebration. With a bit of guile and lots of charm she wormed her way onto the planning commitee, so that she could have her hand in everything, and guide the ceremonies to be the best they could be.

The first thing that had to be decided of course was who would precede over the ceremony. Since your wedding occurs so close to the Big Flooding Festival, you could have the entire thing orchestrated by the Priesthood of Zusla, goddess of the Moon, Night and Floods. They are well loved among the farmers and lower classes, for Zussla brings the floods that give life to the Land. Of course, such a thing would be seen as a slight to the priesthood of Ad, God of the Sun, Death and Rebirth. The Priesthood of Ad is well loved among the craftsmen and higher classes, and they hold the important tasks of guiding souls to the underworld. The last option is to have the wedding presided for by your Father as supreme authority of the land, though that may result in protestations from your soon to be husband. After all, one King being wed by another implies that he accepts him as superior.

Besides that, there's also the choice of location. Once again, there are two obvious options. The Palace here, where you have grown up and lived nearly your whole life, or the palace where you will live the rest of your days. One reaffirms your ties with the old country, giving you support and standing even while isolated. The other allows you to start making contacts early among the other nobles. There are some vague thoughts in your mind about other options, but none seem too viable.

The last option, of course, is how big to make the event. A grand feast would be spectacular, but drain the coffers of the land. A smaller more manageable event may be better, if less remarkable. In your mind you hold fantasies over the truly grand ceremonies often told of only in legends, but you know they are not attainable. Even though your father very much wants this marriage to succeed, he will not beggar the country to do it, and you will not fault him for it.

Princess Ishtar

Who: ?

A : The Priesthood of Zussla
B : The Priesthood of Ad
C : Her Father, the King
D : Nur-Skalen Interupt !!!

Where ?
A : The Palace of Ishtar's father, and the surrounding capital
B : The Palace of future husband, and the surrounding capital
C : A place between the two countries, with a particularly unique energy flow. ! (requires manipulation)

What ?

A An enormous festival, both spectacular and extremely expensive (requires rolls to convince)
B A large Feast
C A Smaller Ceremony
D A private ceremony (Requires convincing of Ishtar)

Nur-Skalen

Since the Actions of Nur-Skalen are not going to be changing much, I'm going to be letting you write those in. I also changed option D. Now you have to use a Nur-Skalen action to take the action, not to see it.

Note however that your influence is limited mostly to Princess Ishtar, and any direct manipulation there has good odds of causing mutations.

Nur-Skalen: Just keep watching for now.
We can start messing with stuff once our Princess is a queen. First get a kid from him. Then kill his older son. Once that is done off him. After that assume power as regent. Once all that is done we can basically stay in control of the kingdom through her bloodline/her as a Empress Dowager Cixi figure while she is alive.
