Skjære: Risky action, standard effect. Cunning, +2 due to spending 2 fate to push himself and Jóra’s assistance.Skjære, leaving the counsel with Jóra and her father Kol, approaches Thane Everson.
“My Thane, I have a request of you.” Thane Evarson looks at him, and nods for him to continue, his face still a little red from his outburst. Kol and Jóra watch nervously.
“Sir, by sacrificing that monk, you are just giving them a martyr’s death, which pleases them and their Nameless god. You will just anger and embolden
the others, for no real purpose.”
“Well, then I’ll just kill them too!” He says angrily. Jóra brushes aside her father’s hand and joins Skjære in facing the thane.
“My Thane, in addition to that, you should consider a more practical reason. Those men are learned in their letters, and feel indebted to us because we saved them from a dark spirit. They may be able to read enemy correspondence, and help us to pick targets for our raids.”
Thane Evarson stared at them, his eyes dark. He glances between the two and sighs, leaning back. “Fine, let the monk live. But if he doesn’t prove useful I will sacrifice him later!” At this he leans back into his seat and sighs, his mood darker for the rest of the evening. He now has a dislike for Skjære, and is irritated at Jóra. But the monk will not be sacrificed, and the others are joyful to hear this.
Roll: (3,1,1,3,5) Good thing you got all the help you did!
Einar leaves the party early due to the large wound irritating him. He goes to Gertrude, the town’s healer, and asks for something to heal it up faster. She is an older, matronly woman, and agrees without hesitation. Stripping off his mail and tunic, she tsks at the large angry slash running across his chest. She rubs an ointment on it which after a few minutes begins to soothe the pain. She brings out a jar of the ointment, and tells him to put it on at the beginning of every day, and it should clear up within the week.
Okay, we can move on from the party now, everyone hobnobs with everyone, but no one in paticular unless said other wise. You are free to do what you want around the town, either to pursue your own interests or train or something. Thane Evarson calls all the leaders to the docks, where you meet in a slipway where a long ship is under construction. He turns to you all,
" We are constructing a new ship for your company. As you are all leaders in it, you should have a say in its construction."
The New Ship will be:
A. Built for war. Armed with an iron point, it will be excellent for ramming enemy targets, and armored to take a beating.
B. Built for looting. This ship will be able to haul a ton of goods and captives from raiding.
C. Built for Speed. This ship will be the fastest one on the water. Few will match it's speed. Also, you have 3.5 coins in liquid capital, and another( Hmm 9 monks X 2= 18 coins and 8 villagers= 8 coins) 26 coins in captives, who will you need to trade to someone to get those coins. Someone asked about armor, and you can buy enhanced weapons that grant bonuses to effects in fighting, and armor that will resist one blow for you. Each costs one coin. You can also hire more warriors if you want, but your Thane will likely provide you with some.
