Nestled among rolling green hills is the quite city of Silverbow, population thirty-thousand give or take. Its a city often described as "picturesque" by those passing through. Even apparent blemishes-such as the massive pit left by Copperhead corporation's mining operations have been turned into something of a tourist attraction fit for the postcards. The buildings of the city have an antique feel to them, most of main street is occupied by red-bricked buildings older than your grandparents. Modern buildings exist as well, especially around the suburbs, though they often feel out of place. All in all it is a fairly average city....

"Tap....tap....tap...." An old man sits at the bar in a coffee shop. He is wearing a practical outfit-blue jeans and a work shirt, both stained in what is apparently (mostly) coffee. His drink, the strongest the shop had to offer, ripples three times as he taps on the bar with his finger. "Tap....tap....tap" Of course-that isn't the most obvious trait of the man. His hair is wild and dirty, his face is covered in at least a couple days worth of stubble. If not for the fact he paid in advance with a generous tip, everyone in the room would assume he was homeless. "Tap.......tap....tap...." But it was his eyes that drew you in. Bloodshot as you have ever seen, something was obviously wrong with him.
His body contorted-something between crying, laughing, and coughing. It goes still once again just as abruptly. "Tap....tap....tap...."

~Hello Bay12~! Stirk is here once again to GM a classic! Apparently everyone has heard of Call of Cthulhu, but few people have *actually* played it. Well there is an obvious way to fix that, isn't there? This game will be using the D20 rules (A system different from the *true* classic Coc, but I figured that the potential players would tend to be more familiar with this system. Besides, it has a better gun library~).

Backstory
Thanks to her athletic ability and physical prowess, Suzanne Waller had joined the high-school baseball team at the age of fifteen. What was starting to look like a promising career for her was cut short when she blew out her left elbow. Though the doctors promised it would heal, it could take up to five years before she could regain full functionality of the limb, rendering Suzanne's future as a major league baseball player crushed. By the time her elbow healed, she had already grown so accustomed to using her right arm that it had become dominant.
After graduating high-school, Suzanne enrolled in a local community college and spent two years acquiring a degree in biology. After getting her bachelors, she decided to return to college once more and enrolled in a two-year EMT training program at the very same college. At the age of 22, she had graduated and went on to take, and pass, the state licensing exam, becoming a fully licensed paramedic.
Though initially hesitant to leave her home town, Suzanne left Silverbow for four years and went on to work at a memorial hospital in a nearby metropolis, before returning to Silverbow and applying as an EMT to the local hospital.
Today is Suzanne's thirtieth birthday. She's doing the same thing she does every day; save lives, eat lunch, and head to bed. She's seen numerous strange cases, but nothing in particular has caught her interest. Usually these types of things can just be explained away!

Suzanne is a woman of above average stature for her gender, standing at 5'6. Her body is well-toned and muscular, with a powerful upper body and thick, strong legs that taper off from the thighs and gradually shrink the further they go toward her feet.
Atop her head is long, uneven, back-length black hair, which she keeps in a messy ponytail secured by not one, but two rubber bands of two different colors (one green, and one black). The rubber bands are asymmetrically placed and jut out at odd angles through tufts of hair, although they seem to do their job at holding her hair in a pony tail well enough.
She has dark brown eyes, and is considered moderately attractive. She has large eyebrows that accentuate whatever emotion she's feeling at the time, though this is usually anger or stoicism, so few have seen her eyebrows accentuate any other emotions.
In her work clothes, she wears a light blue button-down with double pockets, a small logo of the hospital she works for that has been embroidered right above her right shirt pocket, a large logo of the hospital that has been embroidered onto her shirt's left arm, and also black cargo pants. Occasionally she also wears a light blue baseball cap with the same logo, though she only wears this on sunny days, otherwise keeping it locked away in her ambulance.
In her casual clothes, she's usually seen wearing an untucked white button-down with a single pocket, and grey yoga pants. Occasionally she also wears a black tie, or a light brown jacket.

He has a trench coat he wears out and about.
Personality: Dix is a sucker for charity cases (which is why his services are so cheap). He always has an air of skepticism about him, and tries to get as much information as possible before making a conclusion. Among his vices are smoking, light recreational drinking, and general snooping.
Backstory: Dix was a cop many years ago. He was pretty good at his job, too, (if a little idealistic) and had even made detective. That changed when he made a terrible discovery.
Dix was on duty one day, when he got a lead on a local coke ring. He spent weeks staking out buildings, interrogating thugs, and busting small-time dealers, when one day, he was called into his bosses office. He sat him down, and told him, quite simply, to back off or bad things would happen. He objected, of course, but the captain was. . . adamant. He even assigned him to a different unit to keep him away. This still didn't stop him. Eventually, he dig deep enough that he found several police officials involved in the ring, keeping the cops off the dealers.
After he exposed them, most of the gangs has painted a target on his back. He had to quit his job, move to a new city, change his name, the works. Now, he makes barely enough to scrape by on solving people's problems. He loves what he does, and it still worries him to this day that an organization founded on the principles of keeping the peace could fall so far from righteousness.

Bio: Sylvia grew up on the outskirts of a big city, where her parents had amassed a small fortune working as war photographers. She lived a comfortable life, spending most of her days reading, practicing ballet, or taking flying lessons (an interest her grandma says she inherited from her estranged grandpa). A brilliant and charismatic student, Sylvia was popular and easily excelled in every non-physical school program. It was no surprise that various universities were eager to accept her after high school.
Following in her family's footsteps, Sylvia dedicated her adult life to becoming a world class reporter. She graduated from a prestigious university with a major in journalism and a minor in history, and landed a great paying job as a journalist right away. Her magnum opus was a series of articles venturing into the criminal underworld and exposing corruption in the city. During this time, she developed the skills needed to take care of herself amongst seedy crowds. Despite being considered a hero of the people, she was never satisfied, and was always on the search for the next big story. Headstrong and cocky, she began to take bigger risks.
While following a lead involving a criminal cultist group, she started obsessing over the occult. Even after it ended up being a hoax, she couldn't help using her resources to research rituals and cryptography. After a near nervous breakdown, she went left the big city to work on a novel, and settled down in the quiet town of Silverbow.
