Corporate [SG]
« on: April 06, 2017, 07:18:19 pm »

Corporations had gathered so much influence that there were more laws in support of them than any individual. The government was nothing more than a husk; a shadow puppet to keep the citizens believing democracy hadn't failed them.

Then the Corporate Rush occured, and everything changed.

Countless corporations, most of them holding near-monopolies over a variety of products, rose up in defiance against the government, calling it an obsolete and broken system. The people were hesitant, though it didn't take long for them to change their views...

The global, one-nation government was disbanded. Through protesting and a few spiteful letters sent in, the senators, ambassadors, and the Council slipped into hiding. Laws no longer had any meaning. Life had settled into new shoes.

Eighty years passed, and corporations grew and fell. Science, weaponry, genetic engineering, and the art of war had advanced.

They needed soldiers for a fight that could only be fought through the shadows. A corporate war utilizing the most advanced technologies, so that a mere dozen operatives could take down entire megacorps, and make sure that one corporation; your very employer, rises to the top.

You are one of the corporate agents, super-soldiers willing to do anything, and everything, to ensure your place in the world.

Damage will be measured through a simple, 100 hitpoint, 5-limb system. Only I will know your exact hitpoints, although each limb's color will change to reflect individual damage, and a general idea of your health will be displayed. Once a limb has entered the Yellow stage of damage, it will progressively lose function the further damage it takes.

Here is an example:
  5
141
 22

Status: Just a few scrapes and bruises.

As you can see, one of the player's arms is slightly damaged, and thus a lighter shade of green than the rest of their body. Other than that, they seem to be fine.

We'll be rolling a D20 for most actions. Unless specified otherwise, anything below a 9 will be considered a failure, although how badly you failed will depend on just how low you roll. Vice-versa for 10 or higher and successes.

The game will be centered upon 'missions' set in a variety of locations in which you will have a specific goal to achieve and various methods in which you can achieve it.

Upon completion of a mission, you will be given a choice between two upgrades to your power. The upgrade that is not chosen will never become available to you again, so choose wisely.

Hello, and welcome to the employment office! We just need a few small details from you, specifically, your name, desired company of occupation, and of course gender.

Tiber Corporation
Welcome to your new life in the Tiber Corporation! Here at Tiber, you come first.

Hah. Just kidding. You don't have rights.

Upon becoming a highly esteemed Tech Specialist, you'll have access to the finest technology weapons can buy! And that is to say, most of it is stolen. Then we use that stolen technology to steal even more technology.

See, we higher-ups don't know a thing about computers. A modem? A pen? Wow! These sure are fancy buzzwords! That's why we let you, the loyal workers, handle everything important while we reap all the benefits.

You'll climb up the latters and maybe if you're lucky, your identity will be completely erased and your family disposed. Why is that a good thing, you ask? Well, around 5% of those "erased" are actually recruited into our Elite Technologically Enhanced Operative program, or "ETEO" for short.

Let's hope you don't piss off the higher-ups, and maybe you'll be one of the lucky 5%!

As an ETEO operative, your missions will primarily focus on maintaining the weapon and technology monopoly of the Tiber Corporation. This includes a wide variety of scenarios, ranging from eliminating the seedy criminal underbelly for weapons and silent espionage on a technological megacorporation to maintain Tiber's grip on society.

Your powers will be acquired through technological enhancement, be it cybernetic or simply free access to advanced weaponry. Easily concealable, though depending on the power, they can be countered by something as simple as an EMP device.

Divis Engineering
Humans are notoriously weak. Fragile. Fleshy. Divis seeks to eliminate imperfection in our highly ethical and painless procedures may not be as advertised genetic enhancement program

We won't lie; your starting job isn't going to be pretty. You'll be a Test Subject, and 95% of Test Subjects die within the first week.

In the result of your survival, you'll immediately undergo advanced gene therapy and radiation treatment. Survive that, and maybe, just maybe, you'll be accepted into becoming a Gene Agent for our organization.

Under the supervision of Divis Engineering, your Gene Agent missions will consist of mostly averting genetic disasters, acquiring rare samples of DNA, and eliminating those deemed "imperfect" by Divis and thus unsuited for genetic therapy. Though you'll often find yourself in a lab, the occasional skyscraper or even small town will pop up here and there.

Your powers will be acquired through intense genetic therapy. While likely very powerful, they can be uncontrollable and are accompanied by physical changes as well, making stealth more difficult.

Xenec Labs
The future is nigh. With new, experimental technologies, Xenec Labs has risen to the top in groundbreaking molecular alteration through the use of nanorobotics and miniaturized particle acceleration.

Scientific advancement has never been more, well, advanced. Our budget is limitless; our jobs, only limited by the amount of brilliant minds out in the world of today, ready to join the world of tomorrow.

We need you. As one of our genius scientists, you might just gain the oppourtunity to become a better you, and transform society for the better.

We are the future. We are Xenec Labs. Join the future, join Xenec.

Though not technically an 'agent' of any kind, Xenec preferring to call you a Humanitarian instead as some sort of codename, you still have many field missions. Your missions consist of aiding those in need, stopping scientific disasters, and preventing global catastrophes whilst slowly gathering the resources and favors to establish the hidden agenda of Xenec Labs; to re-establish a globalized government.

Your powers will be acquired through a change on the molecular level, giving you access to various spectrums of matter or alternative particles. Though powerful at their peak, they can be very weak and possibly useless, depending on the power, at lower levels.

You are Filiberto Cloward. In your youth, you and your family were one of the many Italian immigrants, striving for a better life after the One-World Government collapsed and left Italy in shambles. As the oldest brother of three, you had to make a living to support your ailing mother and retired father. Seeing as corporations ruled, running a restaurant or local business was out of the question; instead, you turned to science and took various part time jobs as an assistant researcher or librarian.

After your mother and father passed away and your siblings went out to find their own places in life, you were left without much purpose. Thus, you went on to join Xenec Labs, a company of great scientific renown.

Over time you climbed your way to the top, but like Icarus, you flew too high. You discovered dangerous secret particle acceleration experiments being conducted by scientists a mere rank above you, and when you confronted the higher-ups, they offered you a choice; leave your job, or accept the responsibility of bettering humanity by assisting Xenec Labs in finishing the experiments.

You chose the latter.

After months of research, the experiment was almost complete. However, the higher-ups began to grow impatient and threatened to cut funding if there weren't results soon. You needed a test subject, but it would be unethical on so many levels to subject a stranger to the procedure... so instead, you opted to test it on yourself.

Choose your power.

Aether Manipulation - Your state of matter has transcended to that of Aether; the hidden element. Though you're maintaining physical form (for now), your cells can now call upon Aether, a wildly unpredictable, chaotic form of energy that affects matter on the subatomic level. At the beginning, you'll only possess the ability to send out a small static shock, though if you concentrate you may be able to use it to overload electronic devices.

Life-Force Manipulation - Thanks to a change on the molecular level, your very life-force is intertwined with that of those around you. It will take great skill before you can master this power into anything useful, so instead you'll only have access to Life-Force Detection at first; an ability which allows you to see the life-force eminating from those around you.

Mental Manipulation - With your neurons being created at an accelerated rate, the broadcasting range of your brainwaves has increased exponentially, allowing you to tap into the minds of others! Though mind control is theoretically possible, at the moment you'll only possess the ability to see into the thoughts of others.

After each successful mission you'll be given the following choice:
Power A - Does an action.
OR
Power B - Does another action.

The option which you do not choose will never appear in any future choices, so decide wisely.
