Orineth - PARTY HEARTY
« on: April 03, 2017, 03:45:32 pm »

I'm starting a new themed fort in which every single room must have a tavern attached. The idea is how long the fort will survive before drowning itself in happiness.

Dining room? Also a tavern.
Animal pens? Has a bar.
Tavern? There's another tavern nested in it.
Crypt? Helluva dance floor.

It will be in a mature world to ensure lots of visitors. Anyone have any thoughts as to what else to include or how to include it?

Magmaforge with a bar. Because drinking and magma go hand in hand.
Wellroom with drinking facilities. Got to drink while you bathe, after all!
Staircase barroom, for when ascending 20 levels gets to be too much....
Archer tower with a bar. (gods, I know some real medieval reenactors who would LOVE that idea).

100% canon now. I'll post pictures as it gets built.

I already have a bar in my barracks. Or a barracks in my bar, whatever. For y'know, Observation training.

Oh, and it seems I have a bar in my daycare. I'm sure I had a valid reason for that, too.

A lot of organized religion could be improved by large quantities of dwarven alcohol.

It's much higher quality than what they use now.

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

Ok so the original name didn't work, now its called Orineth, or "Drunkencity". The symbol is a dwarf in a fetal position surrounded by 99 goblets. Group name is The Awe-Inspiring Bar.

A dedicated social dwarf to be the immediate tavern keeper has been selected. There is ample metals and a volcano on the premises.

A volcano tavern will be constructed at the summit.

::EDIT::
Holy carp this is a 100% flat embark with a volcano like the old-day tubes. No cliffs, just volcano mouth level with the ground. Even has a brook.

::EDIT::
New rule: No booze stockpiles outside of the taverns. You must party to remain hearty.

Half the expedition party has been pulled into the volcano by fire imps.

This only increases my resolve. The greatest party fort will be constructed.

::EPIC MODE EDIT::
I was mistaken.

What I saw wasn't dwarves floating in magma, it was a number of dwarves near the edge and the expedition leader having a hanging-cliffside fistfight over a volcanic caldera with a fire imp. He escaped and the fire imp ran away in terror.

Truly, he is an example to the rest of party fort. I will give him the title of PARTYMUS REX.

Well of course they did.

They wanted to check out the hot tub.

Well duh! It's a well known fact that Dwarven children need alcohol. What kind of a monster wouldn't include a bar in their daycare!

That really is epic. Share the seed!

Yes, but since the children now receive their alcohol via booze barrels dumped through the guest lecturer chute, I'm not sure what I was originally thinking when I placed that tavern location there... maybe I was planning to have a bartender down there to serve drinks.

Nevertheless it's the liveliest party in the whole fortress, with non-stop boozing and brawling. Adult dwarves should be ashamed of themselves.
