You extend your wings above you, and with a flap, and another flap, and several more, you take to the sky, flying several meters above ground. It is probably good you can fly, because if your method of locomotion was more grounded, you would have likely set the surroundings on fire. Because you are still on fire. Perhaps you should try to control your Fires of Purification in the future. At least, that's probably why you're currently combusting.

Above the as-of-yet unnamed village, you spot (With a bird's-eye view!) the humans... well, seemingly going about their business as usual. Milling around, carrying pieces of bread or vegetables or their own lofty selves. You can feel that, once or twice, they seem to be radiating a subtle, yet significant sadness or sorrow, which must be partly the reason for the negative energy, but it seems a little sparse. The source seems to be even further west, towards the barns. Or, at least, that's what you thought, until you spy the largest building in the village, which must be it's place of worship. Inside, you can taste those rolled-up balls of grief again. It is not appetizing. (You take a quick moment to wonder how and why you obtained the power to sense emotions. Are you supposed to purify them, or something?) If you had to guess, perhaps one or two of the villagers have nested themselves inside to mourn. Mourn what, you do not know yet.

You could fly further west towards what must be the farms, or you could fly a little down to observe those inside the church. Or you could set something on fire. Probably not in the village, though.

What shall you do now, Hecticles?

Try not being on fire.
At once, you attempt to stifle your own flame. It's surprisingly difficult - it feels almost as if the flame was resisting being snuffed out. Eventually though, you manage to swallow it, hiding it inside your stomach. Now, you likely wont set everything on fire, and no one will be able to spot the flying, recently-burning bird circling the church. And now diving down into the church. Yep, you're totally inconspicuous.
Fly a little down
Flying into the wooden building and perching on an open window, you look with your eyes and hear with your ears, observing what lies below.

You see, attached to the wall, a statue. Perhaps twice as large as a man, this is what must be the image of a god. He seems to have stout features, and has a friendly, almost comforting smile. Two of them, on his two heads. Carried in his four arms you can see a fan, a torch (and a real one, at that!), an axe and a javelin. A woman and a man are close to the statue, prostrating themselves before it. To the side, another women watches with a stoic expression.

"Oh, great Agni, god of mercy and death! Please save my darling little boy, kidnapped by that foul, foul..." she stops a moment to sob. "That foul creature! That THING! Please save his soul, oh, please save his soul!" she sobs and wails to no avail, the man quiet beside her. You can tell, however, he is also afflicted with grief. Mostly because of your seemingly magical ability to sense it, but still.

(Suddenly, you begin to feel... antsy. Like you have an inclination to do something,  lest you begin to be unable to bear not doing it. You can resist this urge for now, but if you don't do something about it, you might soon break down. Or something. Maybe this has something to do with you swallowing your flame.)

Transform into a robed human, similar to the humans of this village. Enter the church and inquire from the pair what ails them and how we can help.

I think we should take a subtle approach rather than an overt one because there are a lot of unknowns floating around. Since we don't know how magic and animals work around here, we should turn into a fairly typical human as to not risk alienating or startling them. I guess we also shouldn't tell them we're a priest of Prometheus or magical yet since religion down here is an unknown as well. Does Prometheus have to compete with Agni for worshippers? Is Agni a true god or a false god? Unless we have trouble transforming or the meeting initially does not go well, then we should be more open about who we are.

BTW I'm really starting to appreciate the colored text. It surprisingly adds a good amount of details and visuals.

Use our intuition to find the creature that did this. Then we can remain completely discrete.

Transform into a robed human, similar to the humans of this village. Enter the church and inquire from the pair what ails them and how we can help.
You almost command your flame to transform yourself there and then, but you have enough sense to put on your disguise behind the building. At once, you are enveloped in blue flame, swirling around you and rising higher and higher, forming into the crude image of a man. Well, close enough to a man, at least. You can almost feel the flaws as they come into being - a little asymmetrical on the arms, a few unnatural angles, the robe seems to flutter a little too fakely... You don't hold the Fires of Creation in your hands, but you suppose you might as well make do with what you have. The fires reveal your slightly-off form, and retreat once more into your belly. Right, then.

After a few minutes of stumbling and getting used to your weirdly long legs (that's not your fires' fault, you're just not used to these silly human appendages), you walk into the church. At once, the stoic woman at the side seems to notice something is wrong, staring at you cautiously. You can probably take her out if need be, but her stare still makes you shiver just a little. You realize she must be the proprietor of this building, holding onto a thick wooden cane despite what seems to be her youth.

"What is," you begin with a rasp, before coughing. Strange human lungs, you swear. "What is that which ails you two." you try again, marginally better. The pair turn to face you, moving into a kneel.

"What ails me?" says the woman, "What ails me is my darling Abderos has been taken by that, that," she places her hands to her face and sobs into them. The man places a gentle hand on her back, looking at you.

"We would do anything to get him back," he begins to exposit, "but he's already been gone for a week. This is nothing new - it seems as if it's been years since these kidnappings began. Children, usually first-born sons, but they take girls, they take younger children, all disappearing overnight. All we know of the culprit, or culprits, is that they are not human." He takes a moment to pause and console the woman, "... Sightings differ. Some say powerful horses tricked them into riding upon their backs. Others say a great scaled worm dragged them underground. But me and Nemea," he gestures to the woman, "Me and Nemea believe it was a golden lion that took Abderos away."

The woman, Nemea, suddenly hugs the man and cries into his chest. "Oh, Molorchos, please tell me precious Abderos is still alive! What I would do to see his darling smile again!" she wails and wails, and Molorchos looks at you with a helpless expression.
Use our intuition to find the creature that did this. Then we can remain completely discrete.
Well, using your divine intuition, you can tell that whatever sort of creature did this...

Is probably near the village.

By Prometheus, you're good.

I heard of your plight, though I represent a different god (look at how the priest reacts) I would not see the flame of youth extinguished.  I will find your child, or avenge him.

Find monster?  Talk to priest?

Defiantly turn back into a fiery fire bird after we are clear of the building.

Ask them why they think it's a golden lion, exactly. That seems awfully specific. Not that most lions weren't golden when you really think about it, of course.
