Priest of Prometheus (SG)

((Warning: Darkling recommended in case of sudden text-based arson. Thank you!))

...

You are asleep.

Swimming in a seemingly endless ocean of darkness, you attempt to open your eyes to find they were not closed in the first place.

You have no memories of how you got here. You have no memories of your self. What has happened, you might wonder.

"Mortal."

Your ears are greeted with the sounds of fire. Burning, crackling, sizzling, flaming, ignited fire, morphed into the speech of man.

"Tell me thy name."

A second later, your eyes are greeted with a supernova. White hot, after which is every bright shade of yellow, orange, red and brilliant magenta. At the edge of the explosion, you see perhaps two brilliant specks of bright blue.

A name pops into your mind. What is it? Before you can speak, however, the voice continues.

"No matter. I am the God of Fire, Prometheus, and I owe thee a gift."

"My holy flames... I will gift them to thee, and so restore thee to wholeness."

The voice pauses, but your mind, no, your whole being vibrates still in instinctual awe.

Name:Tharn Thaeit

Also, I vote for setting the most popular flame before the name.

Your name, or, at least, what you have named yourself, shall henceforth be Hecticles. (The color shall change as you act in this world. For now... how about a cool grey?)

You reach out towards the supernova, attempting to take the gift you have been promised. At once, you feel its power coursing through you, the flames seeping into you, within you, until they become a part of you, as natural as a hand or a nose.

At once, you perceive your new gift as a bright blue flame. It surrounds you completely, and that is when you realize you have no body. The supernova in the distance begins to shrink, as your gift forms a new (or perhaps, your first) body. You may describe it if you wish, but all the same, the brilliant lights fade from view, and you swim in darkness once again.

You open your eyes, and find that you have been dreaming this entire time. Standing up, you perceive you are within a dry, almost barren grassland. Only a few bushes and decaying trees are at home here. Towards the west, you can see the markings of human civilization. To the south, you see the grassland become more vibrant, though not by much. In addition to this, to the east you see the land become populated with more hills, and you believe you can spot a cave. To the north seems to be a group of lions and lionesses.

Ah, yes, and you are also still on fire. Though, strangely, the fire seems to be protecting you, as if shielding you from whatever deadly assassins may try to take the life of amnesiacs that dream in the middle of nowhere. Or perhaps it's protecting you from the air. Either way, it doesn't seem to be harming you, at least.

What shall you do now, Hecticles?

For a form, I'll say...large, grey feathered bird-of-prey.

+1 if some of the plumage is silver. Not sure why I want silver in the first place, but I do. Anyway, as an action, I'd suggest examining the land around us, to see if some curse or such is causing the decay, etc.

You stretch out your many-colored wings, your long, silver-tipped tailfeathers gently waggling left and right. With aquamarine eyes do you scan the area a second time, this time, looking for any dark and dastardly magic.

No foul necromancer seems to be suffusing the land with negative energy on purpose, or at least that's the impression you get with your untrained eyes. In the area around you, it all seems to be a stable, natural sort of, you want to say impurity, but you brush the thought off. Once you look west, however, you feel a vague... melancholy. A cold soup of sorrow, frustration, and annoyance, with little round balls of real grief floating on the surface. Perhaps this stew of negativity is affecting the land. Or perhaps you're just being fanciful.

What shall you do now, Hecticles?
