Waiting for a siege

How much time does it usually take for you guys to get a non-undead siege? I actually haven't seen one yet before even though I've been playing DF for quite a time.

Here at Bay12 we excel at Theoretical Biology. Need to know the value of Merbone? Check. Need to know the density of a thrown Fluffy Wambler? Check. Need to know how a walking Mushroom can theoretically talk? Check.

As long as it takes to reach population 80. After that, so long as you embarked with goblin neighbors they should turn up eventually. Yeah, there's a chance they'll be busy trashing other sites for a while but unless they're all wiped out, they shouldn't ignore you forever. Make a copy of your save and check out Legends if you want to check what they're up to.

Remember goblins don't care about wealth in vanilla DF.

Year 3-5 usually for gobbos.

Other than goblins, kobolds and undead I'm hardly ever attacked by other races even after provocation.

It depends on if you are near a big goblin settlement or not. It could be anywhere between about two years after embark and never.
