: "Well!  It seems you have a reason to save the lives of your countrymen, then.  Or at the very least render their attackers into a fine red mist."

: "It would, after all, speed things up and ensure we made it back sooner."

William gave the pegasus rider a cheerful wave and a smile.

: "Oh, you there, miss.  If you happen to have a vulnerary on you, would you be so kind as to wake the healer up?  I fear some people may need wounds tended to during or after the battle, and he's a damn sight more effective at it than I am."

"If they attack me I'll die, you idiot! I'm in silk, not steel!"

: "Yes, well, that's your own fault, isn't it?  Silk, I ask you.  In this climate?"

: "But jests aside, someone please kill the man for her."

[Sirus]

: "I don't even know where to begin questioning the logic that stopping for an hour or two to do battle is somehow faster than simply riding on."

[Lucus Casius]

: "Because we're already doing it, obviously, and it'll go much more quickly if you join in."

: "...Well, marginally more quickly, anyway.  No matter!  We'll be back momentarily, either way."

[Twinwolf]

"That and if we don't fight them now, we might run into them on the way back, with fewer supplies." Miranda supplied.

[Taricus]

: "Unlikely, they'll move on to other villages. They won't stay around unless there's a warlord nearby to whip them into shape. More to the point they know we're here; we're going to end up facing them all one way or another this day.

Show some steel Porkins, you might earn your rank yet."

[Sirus]

: "And if we do stop to fight them now we'll have fewer supplies if more trouble comes our way. Supplies that we may need. They'll go back to looting as soon as we leave and--"

: "Let it go, Captain. They're clearly committed."

: "As to your question, Mister Warwick, I suppose I could be persuaded to use some valuable medicine on this criminal. However, I must insist that the coast be clear first. I may be armed but I am not a fighter by nature."

[Lucus Casius]

: "Please!  It's professor.  Or doctor.  Or just William, if you prefer."

: "...Well, I suppose I'd respond to mister.  Demeaning, but my name still makes up for it."

: "In any case, I would be delighted to 'clear the coast' for you.  Or ask someone else to do it, if I decide I can't be bothered."

[Taricus]

: "I may be armed but I am not a fighter by nature."

: "You had best learn fast then, there is no room for dead weight on the battlefield."

[Sirus]

: "I would have thought that you'd prefer dead weight. Easier to victimize."

[Taricus]

: "Dead weight on the enemy's side. You've got me in pointed in the wrong direction to victimise you."

: "Unless this is just weird proposition in which you want to be victimised, in which case you might want to wait until after the battle."

[Lucus Casius]

: "Now, now, there's no need to be snippy with each other."

: "We're all friends here, after all.  Or, well, prisoners contractually obligated to be in your general vicinity on pain of death."

: "Same thing, really."

[Sirus]

: "Charming. Is that what you told the peasant girls while you burned their homes to the ground?"

[Taricus]

: "That implies that we bothered to speak with them, or that we di that right in the midst of a burning village. We were smart enough to bring them back to camp first."

: "Besides, the ones smart enough to surrender didn't have to deal with that sort of thing in the first place."

[Sirus]

: "Well, I stand corrected. You were a regular bunch of gentlemen."
