Gotta have faith, faith, faith.
« on: March 22, 2017, 11:35:23 am »

Evening splendids!

Been trying in vain to assign a temple, but canīt seem to figure out how.
The wiki says I need a meeting hall with at least a 5x5 "dancing hall" in it plus some form of instrument in a container.

Now, I have a meeting hall, far larger than 5x5, it contains an unoccupied 5x5 square near the middle, and a chest. I do possess an instrument (chalk trumpet. Ha!) but canīt figure out a way to make them put the instrument in the box.

Anyway, been butting my head against this for a while. Hlep?!

Set up the meeting hall. Lowercase L to assign a location. New location. Should get the chance from there. I don't think you NEED those things to assign the location, they were just giving you the recipe for an effective temple. I know, I've done "shrines" before that were three by three empty rooms.

The act of the instrument being put inside will be done automatically by your dwarves once you assign your meetinghall a location, that location being the temple you want. If you dont have one yet, just do it anyways, and there will be the option to create a new location.

So you don't need those requirements to designate it, but you do need them, I believe, for them to be functional.

Instruments are not needed for temples to function (nor are chests). All you need is an area designated as a temple and your dorfs will worship there (anyone in an omni deity temple, those dedicated to particular gods can also be used by those worshiping that particular god). I don't bother with dedicated temples (have had some bad effects with those), nor with instruments in temples (they all go to the tavern).

If your dwarfs refuse to put the instrument into a container, try building it like it's a piece of furniture. (It might be a large stationary instrument like a piano or harp.)  [Edit: Just noticed you're talking about a trumpet, so this probably isn't the problem, but it might come up in future.]

Well, Lohakar, while the list is nice, it's useless to anyone but those playing in that particular world...

Instruments are procedurally generated, which means they end up being different with different names in each world (and even when something happens to be constructed identically, it will still have a different name, and, likewise, the same name may end up being a completely different instrument).
