Hrm....I'm leaning towards a "nope". Give me a day to think on it since Twinwolf doesn't seem to be posting.

Also Taricus needs to fix his post. He doesn't have the AID to rescue a pegasus rider.

Or you could start the characters who have mounts as unmounted. I mean who sleeps on a horse/wyvern/pegasus? :P

I'm counting it as a standard ailment, for the most part. Ailments do not affect your mount/dismount status.

Logic would also dictate that a bow has greater range than twice the length of a sword, but that's not how things work in this system.

FFS people, I'm not going to intentionally drop you into an unwinnable situation. Even if you leave the archers untouched and even if they go for Zelda or Yara, they're not going to instantly die or cause a map failure. Just go with it.

I was under the assumption that the important NPCs also got the down counters. Like in most games.
