How to make a creature not have needs?
« on: March 20, 2017, 02:59:42 pm »

By needs I mean those such as having a meal with a liked ingredient, talking to a family member, engaging in abstract thought etc. Don't get me wrong, I love the feature, but its numerous bugs/oversights drive me to stop playing out of sheer annoyance. I know that removing all ethics tags from the entity results in citizens without the "Like others of her culture, Urist values etc" part, but they still have personal values that cause their needs. Any way to remove that, without simultaneously wiping them of all personality, of course?

One of those bugs you mentioned is that all creatures are affected by needs, whether or not they're supposed to.

...Oh, crud. So, nothing to do but wait for new version.

By 'all', do you mean 'all sapients' or does my cat population have unfulfilled desires to engage in craftscatsship?

I mean your cat population has unfulfillled desires to engage in craftscatsship.

But I think you can reduce the effect of needs by adjusting personalities.  My goanna people always seem to be pretty easy going, though I'm not sure exactly why.
