The three barbarians, Barbarisan, BARBARBARBAR, and Beorn head down the cliffline towards the southern fort.  A brisk hike downhill later, and they reach the short wall facing the south mountain.

Working as a team, the three barbarians climb the eight foot wall or so near the door, standing off a big rock dislodged from higher up and rolled down towards the fort.  With that embedded in the wall, it's an easy step onto the wall.

Inside the wall looks empty, at least on this side.  It runs east and west, with the east side curving towards the great brown tower that makes up the bulk of the fort, and the west side continuing much lower than the top of the forts, but remaining seperated from the tower.  In the space between the wall and the tower, there are a few buildings, but they look mostly abandoned.

As for how to get off the wall, however, that is not clear.  This stretch of the wall has no ladders or stairs down, and it's a larger drop from the inside of the wall to the ground than the outside of the wall to the mountain.  Moving east would run along the wall into the tower, where there is certain to be a way down, but also certain to be guards.  Moving west may lead to another way down, but you can't see west from here.  Alternatively, the three of you could simply jump or climb straight down, showing disdain for the fifteen-foot drop.

Knives Beorn is the first to move, vaulting over the short parapet on the inside of the wall, dropping down to the courtyard.  The ending is not as smooth as the beginning, as he lands on a handcart, which, despite sheer effort, fails to break cleanly when the barbarian lands on it.  Beorn has taken one wound, and is at 2/3 HP.

Barbarisan drops down next, and pulls off what Beorn could only wish, reaching the ground and falling into a smooth roll that brings her back onto her feet, ready for action.  Action is somewhat lacking at the moment, however, as there are no enemies in sight amongst the buildings in the courtyard.  Westward should lead to the western exit, and eastward should lead to the tower.

Beorn grumbles a little at the fall, but shrugs off the wound with barbaric disdain. He then stumps off

Barbarisan strides towards the tower, bypassing the numerous small buildings inside the walls.  She approaches an inside entrance, a small fortified door, and spots a pair of standing guards in the hallway within, busy with idle conversation.  Within five seconds, they are both dead.  Unfortunately, at least one of them gets out a loud shout, and as Barbarisan walks through the rooms and hallways, she can hear more people moving around the building, and heavy footsteps ringing from above and below.  Eventually she ends up in a small guardroom with a narrow slit facing the cart passage under and through the main tower.  The room is empty and unoccupied, save for a water barrel and a pull rope marked 'alarm' leading far up the tower.

Knives Beorn, on the other hand, has a more pressing ambition than entering the tower.  He sniffs the air, and senses the aroma of cooking meat;  This leads him unerringly towards one of the larger buildings, and he strides through a small door into a cookhouse.  There are several servants here, who stare frightened at the grim barbarian intruder, but they make no great noise.  The fires are stoked and the hard labor of meal preperation is in action.  Right now some meat is just starting to be roasted, which looks like a few chickens, and vegetables are being chopped up.  There is a large window to the eating area, and a small door that probably leads to the pantry.

Beorn grins at the servants. "Keep cooking. It smells great. Bring me a beer, and some cheese! Now then, lads and lasses, do you fancy a tale of heroism, great and mighty? or a song? A song of love? adventure? comedic misfortune/ What will it be? Something to liven up the festivities!"

Beorn essentially acts like he belongs, and bosses the servants around. if they do not respond, he ignores the slight and strides int othe pantry looking for bread and cheese, which he eats while waiting for the meat to cook.

"Ooh, that looks fun."

Pull the alarm and find someplace to hide for a bit.

Beorn is in luck, for the pantry is well-stocked.  There are some rich, garlicked sausages, loaves of fresh bread and even butter to go with it, and instead of the usual ale, the servants round up a cask of spiced beer with a strong flavor from Edrivia.  The cheeses are a nameless local crumbly kind, but the taste is more than adequate.  You decide to take the cask with you, it is certainly better than the usual alcohol you can scrounge up.  (+1 treasure.)

After a while, a large bell rings, and things get more noisy with the sound of men running outside the cookhouse.  Nobody comes in, though, the alarm must not be a time to snack or to harass the servants.

Barbarisan, on the other hand, decides to pull the alarm rope.  With a strong pull, she causes a bell far up in the tower to ring.  She can hear running footsteps as men run for their posts, as well as shouting and cries of alarm.  She puts her back to the brown stone of the wall, and slays the first soldier to enter the room.  However, that soldier is not alone, and swiftly she is facing a squad of alerted guards, the ones who would man this room with bows to shoot any intruders in the hallway.

"Ah, the daft girl, done got inna it, but good, this time, din' she?Ah don' know. Should I off and 'elp 'er out? Or You lot got a way outta this place, so I can be off terrorizing the local farmers' daughters? Eh?"

Beorn chats up the help for information and their general feelings toward the military types. If the servants seem to want the guards cast down, Beorn will go to the aid of his foolish friend. Otherwise, if the staff has a good way to hustle Beorn out, he'll move on with his cask. Otherwise, if there is no good exit during an alarm, Beorn will find a nice corner to sleep in, after getting totally drunk. He wouldn't say no to some company, of hte proper kind, while he is at it.

"Ha!"

Slay them and stuff the corpses in the bell room before anyone else notices. Proceed up the now undefended tower.

The bell room is far above your position.  There's a rope-sized shaft for a rope up to the bell room.  Would you like to just stuff the bodies in the room you're currently in?

Beorn finds that the servants are frightened of the guards.  More than one grows quiet when the barbarian interrogates them about their masters.  They're obviously not capable of fighting back against them.  One does mention to Beorn that when the alarm goes off, the gates are closed and the posts are manned, and escaping under such circumstances will require fighting.  Hiding may allow you to escape notice, but only if the guards decide this is a false alarm.

Barbarisan is an image of swift destruction as she lays through the fresh squad of guards, and the watchroom is soon filled with corpses.  After doing so, she proceeds out the room, and finds some stairs to proceed further up the tower.  After passing two exits to different floors, she reaches the top of this staircase and a third door.  Through the door is a storeroom with another door, with numerous tools, torches, and water barrels inside it.  She can hear some shouts come from the bottom of the hallway, someone has found at least one of the corpses.
