All the medicine you buy turns out to be a waste of money. People are still as sick as ever; they start dying off in droves.

Also, whilst travelling around delivering medicine, some sick person runs up to you and starts begging for mercy. Which would be annoying enough, except they keep coughing in your face whilst they do so.
The next day, you have a fever.
The day after that, you start vomiting.
The third day, you are bedridden, strange purple beasts floating in the edges of your vision. One of them has a concerned look on their face as they lean in towards you and ask

"Aaaare you okaymylady? Should weeeee do somethingaboutthis?"

A-I'll be fine. Just gotta knuckle down and fight through!
B-Haha, look at the pretty colours.
C-Hire the best medic you can find- money is no object!
D-*Barf*

Fortunately, they seem to understand regardless.

It is two days later when a fresh horror appears by your bedside.

"A most curious condition. Conventional medicines have no effect, you say? Tried bloodletting, have you?"

You return to lucidity long enough to get a good look at your guest.

"Quintus Quintus, again at your service. Most fortunate you are that I had not travelled far. An expert in all things medical am I."

You mumble something incomprehensible.

"Shh, shh. The sick should be silent. Now, I think I know what you need. Hem hem. Powdered dragon bone, that will do the trick. If you would be so good as to give me the bones, I shall ensure your recovery."
