This is PERFECT, all we need is charisma or at least LUCKY, and we'll live forever (just don't get thrown against mythical beasties without good armor)

Also I'm betting he just has stylized armor whereas we have...well we passed up the better-armor for our soldiers being better armored back in the day. Hopefully we'll get this out well, and it does seem like he has challenged to honorable combat--we are facing Rebels, not traitors, so given the hint in the OP, he may be either well-meaning but disliking the current creed before the Fall, or...

You graciously allow him to approach you, and give him a fair shot at hitting you. It's not your fault he's woefully incompetent. After deflecting his pitiful blows for a few minutes, you grow impatient, and strike back with such force that his sword goes flying out of his hand. He watches it strike the ground nearby, then turns back just in time to see the tip of your blade hovering before his eyes.
