Late Spring, 1 PC*

A storm is coming! One minute, clear skies, the next, a howling wind blows in from the south, and storm clouds materialise on the horizon. Such unnatural disasters are not uncommon in the wake of the collapse. Within a few hours the storm will hit the city, inevitably bringing destruction in its wake.

A-There is nothing we can do but wait it out.
B-Summon the priests, and pray to the gods for mercy.
C-Deploy the army to guide people to safety and reinforce fragile buildings, and set aside funds to repair any damage caused by the storm.

There is some grumbling amongst the soldiers about being sent out into such dangerous weather.

The storm hits, and it is as bad as you feared. The thunder is so loud it shatters windows, lightning starts a dozen fires across the city, torrential rains cause the river to burst its banks, and the howling wind whips through the streets, tearing down wooden houses, ripping up trees, creating vortexes that suck up and subsequently rain down rubble. Hundreds are crushed, burnt, or swept away.
Fortunately, many are spared due to the preparations you took, and when after two days the storm finally abates, the survivors are gratified with your promise to rebuild.
The people are satisfied that you did all you could, though your treasurer is less pleased about the cost of reconstruction.


Early Summer, 1 PC

A man has been sighted agitating against your rule. He claims to speak for the gods, saying that the collapse was their punishment for the hubris of the old nobility, and that you, as a member of said nobility, will only lead them to ruin. So far his words have yet to incite any real unrest, but still, something must be done.

A-Must it? Who cares about the rambling of a madman? Leave him to fade into obscurity.
B-Summon the priests. He claims to speak for the gods, let's see what they have to say about that.
C-OFF WITH HIS HEAD.

Ignorance will either finish it or exacerbate it, summary execution is contextual but it may paint him a martyr or give bad impressions (...and since we're at the start, playing it safe sounds good).
