"Because other people use these waters too even if they aren't here right now. People bathing in these waters dirty them and can potentially pass on sickness. Water here is too rare to risk it with something like that. You can always take some water from it and use that to take a bit of a bath though. Just not... in the actual oasis. Please."

For a moment, Roux eyed up Sharne, debating whether it was worth fighting over. No, it was way too hot. The battle sure hadn't cooled her down.
"Urgh. Fine. Someone bring me a bucket, wouldja?"
She dismounted by the pool, hissing as it pulled at her half-healed wounds, then knelt by the water. She pulled off a grey gauntlet and tossed it aside, dipping her hand in the pool.
"Guess it was too much to 'ope fer that'd it'd be cold."
And without another word, she dunked her head in, emerging in a spray of water droplets.
"Aaahhh... that's a little better."

Esther stretched and patted herself off as the battle came to a close. She'd gotten hurt a bit there, and it'd been touch and go for a bit, but everyone was alive. On their side.

Moving over to Esther, Sharne smiled.

"Hey, question, I found this ring on the bandit. It seems like it might be magic. Any clue what it does?"
Esther looked at the ring closely for a moment, concentrating...

"Mm. Yeah, it's enchanted; it makes the wearer able to sorta sense attacks coming at them when they're badly hurt. Good for dodging I think. That guy must have stolen it."

"Well, there might be something that can be used as a tub in one of the buildings.  We can check.  If only to avoid having to watch Roux dunk her head into our drinking water again."

"...Unlikely.  But maybe we'll find someone still alive out here, too.  Or at least,
something these raiders missed..."

The cloaked man sighed, moving to the first of the buildings.  It was going to be an unpleasant search, but he could hold off on slaking his own thirst until the others were done.

"Huh. In that case... Here. You can have that. Better to keep you safe. Give you a bit of help, that way I don't need to worry as much about keeping you alive."

As Martyn searched the buildings, he quickly found most of them to be occupied solely by broken and soiled furniture. Clearly, nothing of value had been left laying around. He soon found where it had been taken to however. The building closest to the road contained a strongbox with a broken lock, which contained a significant amount of coins.

Martyn finds 4683 gold!

Beyond the gold, there did not appear to be any other valuables. More disturbingly, the final house seemed to have had the basement converted into a mass grave. The arid winds of the desert had prevented traditional rot of the bodies, so there was no scent of rotting flesh. The dried, stretched skin of the corpses was disgusting nonetheless. Martyn could estimate between twenty and thirty bodies inside, stacked like wood.

Esther took the ring, then gave Sharne a sly grin.

"Oh? You're giving me a ring now? What was that you were saying before about relationships again~" she teased. She did sort of understand the point but there was no way she couldn't do this when she was given the ammunition.

"That's... What? No, not... It's just to help protect you. Nothing like... Ugh. Please."

She crossed her arms and glared at a nearby tree, trying very hard not to look at Esther herself.

Bertholt watches Roux curiously, dragging a bucket over to her.
"My, my."

"Come on, don't be like that~ I know, I know, but you can't just give me ammunition like that and not expect something! It's me!"

Kaldach glared as Roux simply dunked her head in the water, not far from where he had just pulled a handful of water up to drink.
: "Could've warned me first."
He pulled out a small skin and dunked it into the water, as far away as he could manage. Glancing backward, it could be easily told that Sharne was yet again indisposed. The mercenary drew a sigh of relief as he brought another handful of water up to address his wounds.

"Sorry to break up your... whatever this is.  But..."

Martyn emerged from the building, a tired look in his eyes.  The coin was safely secured in his pack, to be sorted amongst the rest of their stores, later.  For now, there was.  A more immediate matter.  If a more bitter one.

"Sharne, I've found the villagers.  You might want to... see to them, such as they are."

"I'm sorry.  I'm not sure what rites your people find appropriate."

"Warnin' for what? Ain't nothin' wrong with me 'ead for yer t' catch."

She unclipped her bearskin and tossed it aside, quickly followed by her pauldrons and breastplate. Then she filled the bucket and, in one swift motion, emptied it over her head.

"Ahhh... now that's more like it. Cheers, Bert'old."

"You seem rather chipper for someone who just slaughtered their way through a clan of bandits."
Bertholt notes wryly as he totally does not stare at the armorless Roux no siree why would you think that he's a holy man.
