"Soooo now what do we do..."

Roux calmly responded to the priest.
"Who the 'ell would be charmed by yer, dumbass!?"
She let out a wordless sound of frustration and turned out, stalking off a few steps and practically steaming.

[Swordstar]

"I should go find him.... He can't keep endangering himself like that."

She started to turn away, hesitated and then turned back to Esther.

"I... I know that your teasing and flirting is just that. Teasing. But I... I do not... Yes. You are attractive and I cannot deny that there is part of me drawn to you. But the fact of the matter is I need to be focused on protecting you. That is my duty and I cannot let anything else come in between. No matter how I may feel."

Bertholt simply chuckles as Roux leaves, the beginnings of a mischievous smirk on his face.
"Perhaps I'll find out soon enough."

[Twinwolf]

Esther blinked - she'd not... quite expected that.

"...Well, uh, I'm very flattered by those feelings..." she said, not quite sure how to respond as things suddenly turned serious. "...I don't think it conflicts with duty to care about the ones you're protecting? Buuut then again, knowing you, I don't think I'm going to dissuade you there right now."

[Swordstar]

Sharne's blush turned deeper and she stuttered through more of an explanation.

"I'm not... I'm just saying that you're attractive. Nothing more. It's not fitting for me... It's not right. I'm here as part of a blood oath, not for anything else. I'm sorry. I should not have said anything..."

[Twinwolf]

"It's fine, it's fine~" she says, before patting Sharne on the shoulder.

"Seriously though, just relax, ok? I know that if it wasn't for the oath, you wouldn't be here. It doesn't mean I can't enjoy that you are here, does it? I also don't think it doesn't mean you can't enjoy our company, but different cultures and all. I don't want you to be worried over this. ...I don't think I'm very good at this whole reassurance thing."

[Swordstar]

"I do enjoy the company. Well... Most of the company. I just can't... I have two people that I need to protect above everyone else. And I can't let myself be distracted, as I've said. But that means I can't be distracted from either. I just... Felt it was wrong to not let you know. Both how I feel and why I react like I do to your advances."

[Sirus]

Her song finished and the tension in the air mostly dissipated, Sam wandered away to find Martyn, whistling as she went.

: "Hey, there you are! Did you find that other prisoner alright?"

[Lucus Casius]

Martyn, for his part, was leaning against a wall and deep in thought when Sam found him.  He cracked open one eye at her as she spoke, then closed it again, giving a little 'hm.'
 
  "Liam did, and I helped get him out.  So he's doing alright."

  "I'm afraid to say I may have mixed feelings about that."

  "He's a bit of an-  Well.  He's a bit difficult.  But he may be useful to the cause.  A wealthy trader from Anecca, from a wealthier family.  We may be able to convince him or his family to support the resistance. "

  " Even IF he'd hoped to trade with Mordo at the start."

[Sirus]

Sam's cheerful attitude faltered just a smidge, as the drummer picked up on Martyn's unease.

: "Well...they say beggars can't be choosers. I'm guessing a lot of traders nowadays are working with Mordo, even if they don't like them much."

: "Gods know, most Izzarrans don't have enough money to do a lot business."

: "A-anyway! The whole idea with leaving Izzarra was to find allies. If this guy and his family come through, then we're off to a good start. So...what's bothering you? Is it the Mordo thing?"

[Lucus Casius]

The man shrugged.

  "No.  Not the Mordo thing, per se.  Not beyond the usual."

  "More a casual indifference situation here, beyond how it affects his pocketbook.   And I fear he won't be the only one whose views on the matter are no more than matters of economy."

Martyn gave a little sigh, uncrossing his arms and pushing himself away from the wall.

  "Still, you aren't wrong.  Beggars can't be choosers.  And we can still make use of him, even if it makes the appeal more difficult."

[Sirus]

: "Well, unfortunately I think we'll have to expect that to be the case. Most merchants out there seem to have coin purses for brains." It was at this point that Sam remembered that she was speaking to the son of some of those same merchants.

: "Er, not you, obviously!"

: "Anyway, I think we'll just have to do our best to convince this guy and others like him that we're worthy of support. Springing him from jail is a good start! Maybe if we get him home safely he'll start seeing us in a better light."

[Lucus Casius]

  "One can only hope.  If not...  Well, we'll find someone, I'm sure.  There will always be some sympathetic to our cause."

Martyn didn't really react to Sam's little faux pas.  He wasn't a merchant himself, after all.  As for his parents...  That was a topic he didn't want to think on overly much.

  "How are the others doing?  I could hear Roux yelling from out in the hall."
