Sharne stared at the result of Kaldach's attack, and then glared at him.

"What in the *world* are you doing using a sword like that? It's... what is it?"

The mercenary took a couple breaths as he saw the erstwhile mage fall over in twain. His grip tightened further on the sword, the bloody red glow in his arms growing more obvious each second. Kaldach's ear perked when Sharne addressed him, he gave only a brief glance before turning back to their opponents, but anyone paying attention could easy discern what was out of place.
: "It's...fine." He spoke as if attempting to coarsely bend several growls into syllables, "The sword... is power."

Sharne couldn't help the gasp that escaped her lips seeing the glow around the man and in his eyes.

"No. No this is not ok. I can't... No."

This wouldn't do. He was her responsibility to protect and he looked like he was trying to kill himself right now. Reaching out, she tried to grab the hilt of the sword and was greeted by a burst of heat and the hilt slipping away from her as if it was trying to turn around and stab her.

"GAH!!"

She stumbled back away from the man and fell to a knee briefly, dropping her sword and clutching her hand.

"That... that isn't power... That's corruption..."

Kaldach wrestled the sword away despite its protests as Sharne tried to pull it away. With a couple grunts, he reasserted his combat stance towards the other mage.
: "Stay... calm... I have-" The mercenary locked eyes with the mage briefly, letting out a much louder growl as he strained to steady the blade, "-GRRRH!..I control."
