"You bet *winks seductively*"

"As the saying goes, beg, borrow, steal. There are sailors who would work for us. What remains of the funds we raided is likely enough to get some poor fisherman or merchant to play along, if nobody wants to do this from the goodness of their hearts. If not, few people will disobey orders when a blade is at their neck."

: "No. If we start threatening poor fishermen into helping us out we'd be no better than the Mordos. If we can't find someone to take us willingly, we'll walk."

"I'm with Sam in this.  But I doubt we'll find many willing, for what is sure to be a long journey either way--and one in which we'll often have to leave the ships to go inland, anyway.  Better to stay on foot."

Sharne frowned slightly, considering her options before speaking up,

"I could lead us through the desert. While I could not remain there, if it helped the cause, I could be your guide there. Take you to the towns that might help us, keep us to the safe paths, that sort of thing."

"I have no doubt of your ability to lead us through your homeland, Sharne.  But while we might not get lost, it still leaves the issue of supplies-"

  "..."

The man was silent for a long time, lost in thought.  When he spoke again, every word came slowly, as though he were mulling over each one.

"...There are a number of forts, along the border of Anecca.  Meant to guard the ends of the caravan routes, I think, and to prevent the merchants from smuggling goods into Izzarra.  They're supposedly well supplied--and several must keep stores of seized goods--but many are distant and comparatively undermanned.  If we could storm one, we might be able to gather our supplies and flee into the desert before they can send for reinforcements."

Kaldach paced, grunting irritably and shaking his head.
: "I'm all for building our strength, but going on this tour could take years. Who knows how much Mordo could consolidate its power before we return?"
The mercenary paused and sighed.
: "At the very least, sacking a fort would be a parting shot worth taking."

~In the end, the group determined that they would make their way to Anecca as the first of many possible allies. On the way out, they planned to raid one of the forts located on the Mordo/Anecca border for supplies they would need to cross the desert. After some deliberation, the group set out for Ft. Anise. Back when Izzarra was independent, this fort was a lightly defended outpost whose staff were primarily charged with checking for illegal cargo crossing the border. Under the Mordo occupation however, incoming trade wagons have their contents rigorously cataloged, and all weapons are seized. As bandit activity rises and Izzarran buying power falls, foreign trade caravans become a rarer sight within the country, and Ft. Anise in particular sees little activity. Hoping that this would have resulted in a lax, unprepared guard, the rebels strike at the fortress in the dead of night.~

Captain Ervalt  thumbed over his notes. Only one wagon in the last two months. There had been a number of weapons hidden away, so entirety of the contents were seized, as per regulation. That made the men happy, but it was unfortunate to have to do. Ignoring the fact that goods from Anecca weren't coming in to Mordo, at least through Izzarra, it gave the soldiers very little to spend their pay on, leaving them frustrated and bored. Some form of change would have to be implemented, clearly.

His thoughts were interrupted as a man burst into the room. "Captain! We're under attack!"

Ervalt stood up, grabbing his tome. "Under attack? From who?"

"I don't know! They managed to push their way inside, I think they're in the main foyer. We need you commanding sir."

Ervalt grit his teeth. "Secure the valuables, and kill the assailants. We'll worry about who they are after they're dead."

Brock to 2-10, iron axe lancer A.

Brock rushes forward like a wild boar, silently hoping they have a shirt in his size so he won't have to brave the desert shirtless. Those thoughts are quickly filled with bloodlust as his axe comes down on the lancer.

Esther, probably being rather too reckless but making use of what surprise they had, rushed forward. A muttered incantation, and she drew black power from her tome and tried to shove it in the startled bowman's gut.

3-9, worm archer A.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.
