Letting out a sigh of relief as Esther was carried away, Sharne called back to Kaldach,

"Kaldach! Get out of here. In covering the retreat. We need to go now."

Roux yelped in pain as she was stabbed, but nonetheless swung wildly back at the enemy.
"Yer mother gave me an 'arder jab than that, yer prick!" she shouted back at the soldier.
"Bertholt, yer dumbass! Get movin'!"
When it's her time, leave

Kaldach kept his eyes fixed on his opponent in front of him, watching for the right moment. Carefully holding his sword defensively, he called back to Sharne.
: "Leave the cover to me, I'll be right behind you."

"If the two of you don't get moving, you're both going to die.  Disengage, trust the storm, and go!"

"Nobody left behind, Roux. Just a moment."
As he trundles towards the exit, Bertholt yanks Sam onto the back of his horse.
"It would be unfortunate if we left you behind. Now tally-ho!"
Rescue Sam and then run

Kaldach scoffed at Martyn's insistence.
: "Little busy, here!" The mercenary maneuvered his sword outward in hopes of baiting his opponent. If that failed, a feint would have to do, "Sharne, just break for it on my signal."
When Sharne moves and no sooner, Kaldach to 15,19 and leave.

With the last of the resistance group gone, the revolutionary breaths a sigh of relief, tucking his knives away before dashing after them.

Martyn leaves.

~Chapter One Complete~

Having cut their way through the Inquisitorial squad, the rebels rushed out of the valley, outstripping the pace of the winged forces behind them. Once beyond the valley, options spread before them. As the deluge continued, it would be difficult to track and pursue the group, but not impossible. Their next move would require careful consideration. Millton's heavy garrison would surely still be in place, and the group was in no condition to assault such a position. Perhaps they could return to Balkore- but it was possible that it had been found out as well. If that was the case, what of Rina? Would she have been taken?

It was impossible to know, and the weight of the situation seemed to be personified by the heavy, driving rain. Everyone was completely soaked at this point, as if they'd fallen into a river. It was impossible to see more than a few dozen yards ahead.

Sam cleared her throat.

: "We should probably find somewhere to hole up before long. Get out of the weather and hopefully out of the way of that pipsqueak inquisitor while we figure out our next move. At least their fliers won't be able to keep tabs on us from the sky."

: "We need to find Rina, but making sure they're off our trail comes first."
: "If someone splits off solo, they might be able to get back to Balkore without tipping them off. It's a risk, but it might be worth it."

Farra ended up falling near the back of the group, constantly glancing back despite the rain. If this storm let up at any moment it wouldn't bode well.

"But then if they were caught, we'd have no way of knowing apart from a dead body in the middle of town,"

She took another glance.

"I have no clue..."

  "Even so..."

"Kaldach is right.  Throwing off trackers should be our first priority, and ensuring Rina is safe should follow."

"One of the horsemen should go.  Or myself.  Any of us would be able to get in to or out of town more quickly than the others, and neither I nor Liam are likely to draw much attention."

Martyn glanced up towards the sky, squinting into the storm.  It didn't look like it would let up any time soon, but one never knew.  He pulled his hood over his head to shield him from the worst of the rain, either way.

"But Sam's correct, too.  We'll need somewhere the others can go.  Somewhere close by, where we can meet after finding Rina."

"And somewhere we can sit down and decide on what to do after we ensure she's safe."
