"Your compatriots are already dead."

On the ridge southwest of the building, a man wearing a Mordoan officer's uniform had just crested the rise, resting his hand on the pommel of one of two swords. "Ten of you. Just as the messages had promised. Oh, this is very good." He was flanked by two others, one carrying an axe and bow and another a spear. "I am Inquisitor Reginald. Throw down your weapons and I will grant you a swift death. Resist and it will be very, very painful." As he spoke, a team of wyverns and pegasi flew down from further up the surrounding mountains. Back the way they'd come, the sound of hoof beats was approaching. "You're outnumbered and outmatched. What say you?"

  "...Shit."

So, it was a trap, then.  And with those fliers bearing down on them...

"Farra, nock arrow.  Brock, shut up, prepare to fortify the building.  Kaldach, help me get the others inside so we-"

"Wait, how far out is that storm?  If it can impede their fliers..."

"You'll never take us alive, Inquisitor scum!"

Brock prepares his throwing axe, wondering exactly how Martyn expects him to fortify the place.

He shakes his head.

"Brock, forget it.  We're running.  Go!  Everyone, go!  If the storm can give us cover, we can get out of here!"

Farra's expression became a mix of fear and anger when she heard the officer, and she quickly ran to the entrance to see who was there. And then she heard about wyverns and pegasi, and her fear turned into a slight confidence. She quickly nocked her arrow.
"You don't have to tell me twice,

He shakes his head.

"Brock, forget it.  We're running.  Go!  Everyone, go!  If the storm can give us cover, we can get out of here!"
But the plan changed. So apparently, this wasn't gonna go well if they stayed. Great.

"Alright, then. So much for that,"

"The hard way then." Reginald smiled. "Good. The group before you was too easy, and I didn't get to have my fun! Men, burn the valley! We aren't giving them anywhere to run." As the rest of the Inquisitors forces arrived and began to dismount, three wyverns carrying barrels dropped them into the valley, where they broke, spraying oil all over the ground. One mage threw a bolt of thunder at it, causing it to erupt into an inferno.

They were running, then. Liam rode hard for the forest, slowing only once he reached it to lead his horse with a careful hand, glancing behind him to see where the others were.

If he was shaking in his armor, at least no one could see it yet.

15-8. Before Brock becomes a personal space invader. Again.

Farra kept her arrow nocked as she made her way to 14, 8. She kept her eye on every enemy, ready to strike at any moment because death is a bad thing. Now that she looked, there were... a lot of fliers. She wasn't sure if she could take them down, even with a bow. With the rain, perhaps they stood half a chance.

Kaldach paused as he noticed a different sensation on hearing the drums. When bringing his weapon to bear, he felt compelled to take a slightly different stance than usual.
: "That's new."
