Bertholt lets out a small, light chuckle, the slightest hint of a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“My, my, you've gone a little red. I merely meant our future after this is over, of course, assuming we succeed in our endeavours. Eventually, our partnership's original purpose would have run it's course. Surely you must have something you want to do aside from living from day to day, no? I'm just curious."

Roux gritted her teeth.
"I ain't goin' red, dumbass!"
"Of course I ain't never thought 'bout our- 'bout my future. Ain't no point, since i didn't know iffn we was gonna win, any'ow."
"Gotta take care of me ma, so maybe go back to 'orse thievin'. Couldn't stay 'ere an' be boss forever-like. Too many pricks would wanna take their chances 'gainst a female boss, an' me arm would get tired."

"....perhaps...I could help find you a line of work more stable than thievery. Something to keep your mother in good hands that doesn't depend upon some unfortunate soul's horses being stolen. After all, it must be difficult to live off the horses, no? Especially considering you're always needing to find the next mark while keeping both of you alive."

"Ain't easy, no, but I'm tough."
"What would yer even suggest, then. Ain't becomin' no nun, iffn that were yer idea."

"Perhaps you could become some sort of instructor of arms, sell your services to anyone who wants to learn how to ride and fight. You're experienced, strong and handy with a weapon. Anyone's got plenty to learn from you, and fighting on horseback isn't the easiest thing to pick up; I mainly learned by watching you fight."

Liam finished taking in the celebrations occurring around him, and nodded at Kaldach a bit belatedly before wandering off to see what sorts of games the bandits were playing. He wasn't flush with money to gamble away, but he could still appreciate a good bit of entertainment from the sidelines (he couldn't say the generously-untuned lute was cutting it at the moment though).

"Reminds me of old times," he muttered. Long as they were here, that hadn't changed - he supposed this was the rare good side of it.

"Fightin' instructor, huh."
She mused over the idea.
"I learned meself by doin', an' I was good at it, cos iffn I weren't I'd be dead."
"Ha! Think them prissy lil' nobles an' the like would be 'appy with someone like me teachin' their sprats 'ow to fight, all dishonourable-like?"

Bertholt gave a dry chuckle.
"Who do you think taught me the basics of combat? I didn't learn from a prissy man with more dress sense than common sense."

Drawing his gaze across the rest of the group, Sharne and Esther a moment longer to ensure they weren't injured, Kaldach let out a brief grunt. All the revelry meant little, especially when he knew they were going to be bearing down on Mordo again in a few days' time. Spotting a green cloak, he approaches Martyn.
: "So, relief provisions and some expendable muscle. Not an army, but it's what we've got. Got any ideas on where to put them?"

"Couldn't 'ave taught yer much, iffn yer were learnin' by watchin' me."

"No, I meant....the very first person who ever taught me how to fight wasn't exactly some prissy tutor with fancy frills."

"Why'd yer even 'ave one in the first place? WOulda thought rich guy like you woulda 'ad 'nough bodyguards yer wouldn't need trainin' yerself"
A thought seemed to strike Roux, and she grinned smugly.
  "Yer shoulda got a refund, any'ow, cos it didn't stop me from kickin' yer ass, did it?"

"I was originally supposed to inherit the family property in full. Eldest son, you understand. They trained me to make sure I could defend myself. Though, of course, given she was much like you.....perhaps I listened a little more intently than I intended."
