Martyn's brow furrowed, and a grim expression overtook him as he looked down at the little pit fight.  And at Sharne, in particular.  Eventually, he shook his head.

Too late, now.  But eventually, they would need to have words.

  "Keep your staff ready.  I was listening to the bandits earlier.  Perhaps I'm merely being paranoid, but I doubt things will be as simple as Roux believes."

~Enemy Phase 1~

There was a loud "Ooh!" Of surprise and excitement from the crowd as Sharne's blade scythed across Skulltaker's helm. She hadn't drawn blood, but she'd assuredly rung his bell.

"Surround em! We'll kill 'em slow!" Skulltaker's minions closed in on Roux, ready to give their boss room to do his work.

Skulltaker's axe swings down on Kaldach's right shoulder deceptively fast, and shatters his collarbone. "Bet yer feeling pretty dumb following that girl into my land! Haw haw haw!"

Sharne stabbed Skulltaker in the back, and the massive man whirled around, swinging his axe too high to prove true to his namesake. Sharne drove her slim sword through his lung.

"Haw... Haw... Huh?" Rapidly losing blood, Skulltaker collapsed backwards.

Sharne gets Silver Axe!

The other combatants stopped for a moment, looking from Skulltaker's body to the three fighters who had bested him.

There was only a slight pause in the cheering from above the pit. "Well come on! Fight's not over yet! Get em!"

Kaldach, immediately brought onto a knee from the sheer force of the blow to his shoulder, grunts audibly.
: "...Rgh!"
As his shins hit the ground, the steel blade in his left hand slips from his grip. For just a moment, his weapon arm convulses, and he begins to reach for the obsidian blade behind him, a low, growling voice sounding from him.
: "...What was that? Couldn't hear you over-!"
The mercenary didn't have a chance to complete that thought, Sharne delivered the coup de grace as soon as his opponent's taunt finished echoing from the pit. Kaldach paused a moment and, with a couple breaths to regain his stamina, scooped the steel blade back up and hauled himself over to flank the other axeman.
Kaldach to 11,16. Steel Blade ye Thug again.

"...Blow this!" The last fighter in the pit throws his lance at the wall and raises his hands high over his head. "I give up! You win! I lose!"

Outside the pit, the assembled bandits were starting to get upset.

"Wait a minute, I think Skulltaker's dead."
"He's dead? Shit, then who's in charge?"
"Girl in the pit, I guess?"
"What? Just like that?"

Latch banged on the shield he was carrying with his axe. "What are you all yellin' about? So Skulltaker's dead? So fuckin' what? That means I run this place now! Kill the fighters in the pit, and their friends! We'll divide their loot!" The response to this urging was mixed.

"Fuck you!"
"Get him!"
"Skulltaker bet the band and lost fair and square!"
"Fuck 'em!"
"At least we know Latch!"

The tense energy of the camp erupted into battle.

Roux drew her sword, and in three savage hacks cut Skulltaker's head from his neck. She hurled the gory helmeted head over the pit to land in the middle of the camp.
"I'm th' boss now! Anyone 'o sides with Latch - cut' em to pieces an' let Rhea piece 'em back together in 'ell! "
