Sharne didn't dignify Roux's outburst with any response beyond a rude gesture and then drawing her sword. Time to fight.

: "..."
Kaldach silently shook his head, exasperated both by the overall situation and by the arguing. With no time to dwell on it, the mercenary lifted his gaze to glare at the bandits, watching for the first sign of trouble.

Skulltaker returned, an enormous silver axe resting easily on his shoulder. He was flanked by two men, one armed with an axe, and another with a lance. "Yer affairs are in order then?" His flunkies dutily chuckled. "Getcher asses in da pit." Skulltaker leaned his head back, and shouted with impressive volume. "ALRIGHT YA SCUM SUCKERS! WE GOT OURSELVES A PROPER FIGHT TODAY! GET OVER HERE, YOUR LEADER DESERVES AN AUDIENCE!" Less than half of the nearby bandits bothered to approach the edge of the ring, but the number that did seemed sufficient to sate Skulltaker's desire. "What's the fun inna murder without witnesses, eh?"

A rope with strategically spaced knots was lowered into the pit, and Skulltaker and his men went down first, to stand against the opposite wall. Roux, Sharne, and Kaldach were allowed down, after. Another low rumble of thunder ran through the clouds and down into the camp, and the sky grew darker as yet thicker clouds blew in.

Skulltaker leered from the far side of the arena. "Only one man to fight. Roux, ya dumb bitch, ya went and made it too easy. How's a man supposed to have any fun!?" Skulltaker lowered his axe and began to move forward, flanked by his men.

From the area encircling the pit, the rest of the group could only watch. The nearby bandits were not hostile to them, at least for now, but things could change depending on the outcome of the fight below.

Should circumstances be dire, it was possible to enter the pit to save the fighters below, but the consequences for such an action would be disastrous.

~Player Phase 1~

Defeat Skulltaker! And then...
Special Rules: Enemies outside of the pit are not hostile, and will not act during the EP unless the situation changes (Skulltaker dies, a unit that did not begin the map in the pit enters the pit, all allies in the pit are defeated)
If Sharne, Roux, and Kaldach's moves have been in for a day, other units actions will be skipped.

"Oh, yer gonna get yer fight, Skulltaker. Kaldach 'ere as an evil sword that eats babies' souls or summin', an' Sharne is as strong as she is stupid."
"An' she's real dumb righ' now, so I 'ope yer said yer prayers."
She stepped forward and hefted her pilums.
"Have summin' to chew on!"

Rushing forward and drawing a decidedly-not-baby-eating-sword, Kaldach bears it down onto the nearby axeman.
: "You're not even worth putting in the ground. Out of my way before you waste more of my time!"

Gritting her teeth, Sharne charged forward.

Give Knight Crest to Bert so I can stop carrying the damn thing.

Esther, if she hears Martyn, doesn't take notice. She's too busy with other matters.

"KICK HIS ASS SHARNE! MAKE HIM SORRY HE MESSED WITH US!" she shouted. She was glad to see Sharne doing this well; her concerns had been honest ones, but that didn't mean she wasn't worried if she made the wrong decision.

Hold, and cheer on the team.

Farra was overall on-edge ever since they step foot here; she just kept her mouth shut and tried to fade into the background. But it was hard to ignore having some of the best fighters they had suddenly be in a pit fight. Still... They were doing well, though Farra was really hoping this didn't have to happen in the first place. She looked over Esther's shoulder at the fight, then she half mused to herself, half spoke to Esther.

"You're really into this, despite the circumstances, huh..."

A small part of her wanted to cheer them on as well, but she also didn't want to draw attention to herself. Was she being paranoid? Maybe, but she didn't think so.

"MAKE THEM BLEED!" It was the same thing he'd already said, but the words didn't matter. Just the sound, helping Esther fight against the tide.

He turned away briefly, not for long, but long enough to catch what Bertholt said, long enough to notice Farra's skittishness even if he couldn't hear what she was saying to Esther.

"It'll be all right. They've got our support, no matter what happens."

With any luck, moral support would be enough, and they wouldn't need to interfere. And you know? Liam was a gambling man. He hadn't had the chance to gamble coin in a long time (gambling his life in battle just wasn't the same), but the point was... given the choice, he'd bet on them. Maybe that was worth something.

Hold.
