"Thanks. The two of us against all of them?" Liam considered the situation, then grunted in assent. "Hope there are only a few back there."

No matter what Martyn said about the others being able to hold the line, Liam wasn't so sure. They had already lost Rina, what seemed like too long ago now. He hated this splitting up, but more than that he hated the fighting and the death. Outnumbered at every turn.

Still, it was his job. And to hope for peace now? Without a real change, the difference between war and peace was dying quick versus dying slow. He had no cause but money, but he'd seen Chilcinne. Seen Izzarra. The choice to take up arms or starve. He'd chosen the route that led to dying quick because it was the only route he could think of where he could end up living a sort of life at all. And that wasn't even to mention her. Not waiting on him of course, not even really depending on him, but she was family he'd chosen, the last family he had left.

He had some loyalty to this group too, and therefore their cause, but there was no time to think more now. It was a good time for a prayer to Rhea he didn't know; instead he steeled himself and prepared to push further down the hallway.
