Sharne was glaring at the sword, muttering something about it being cursed and evil under her breath.

[Sirus]

: "Um...begging your pardon, your Majesty, but aren't we getting a bit side-tracked here? Unless cursed weapons have something to do with hurting Mordo, anyway."

[Lucus Casius]

  "My sentiments precisely.  While interesting, I'm not sure any individual sword is germane to the topic at hand."

After all, wary as Martyn had been of the weapon at first, it didn't really seem to be anything other than a somewhat dangerous tool.  Hardly something to worry over, if Kaldach could effectively use it against Mordo.

The King opens his mouth to speak when the door opens, revealing a familiar face.

"What in- Vaster! What is the meaning of this?"

"That's no way to speak to a King."

[Sirus]

Sam stood up in a hurry. Yep. This is what happened when mystery guests showed up for meals.

: "What is he doing here?!"

"I'm confused, do you two know each other?" King Vaster's face was conspicuously innocent.

"These people," Regenald spat the word, "are fugitives from Mordo and her justice. I don't know what they're doing here but they're leaving with me and my men."

"Ah, I'm afraid not. These fine people are guests in my home, fugitives from the terrible conditions in their home country of Izzarra. I won't allow you to take them- Not that you have the requisite authority in the first place."

Regenald's teeth ground together and his face became increasingly red.

[GiglameshDespair]

"Try it, dumbass. The only part of yer we'll be leavin' with is yer cash an' yer pride after we kick yer ass."

Kaldach's eyes widened in shock for a brief moment when he saw the Inquisitor. Doubling back, his hand immediately grasped the hilt of his sheathed steel sword.
: "You again?!" The mercenary hesitated several times from drawing his weapon right then and there. But as it became clear the Inquisitor was just as surprised as everyone else, Kaldach settled for simply gritting his teeth, "You didn't get the chance to pay for last time. One wrong move, and I'll see that you pay us back twice."

"Now now, there's no reason we cannot have a dialogue regarding the treatment of the Izz-"

"Damn your dialogues! If you will not turn over the criminals, I will take them by force!" Regenald spun and slammed the door, and the sound of his footfalls could be heard beyond the doorway.

"...By Rhea's bosom, you people are incredible. I thought I was going to have to work for that." King Vaster's innocent expression had been replaced by a malicious grin.

Sharne blinked and then a grin slowly crept into her face.

"Oh that's clever. Even the guilds won't be able to say no after you're attacked on your own soil. Well played your majesty."

[Twinwolf]

Esther blinked. At first she was visibly concerned. Then, she grinned. She liked this king guy.

"Oh, did he just threaten the King? It sounds like he threatened the King."

[Sirus]

: "Sure did. Well maybe not the King directly, but I guess threatening to attack his guests is basically the same thing."

[Lucus Casius]

Martyn had not risen from his seat since Reginald had entered.  Though that wasn't to say he hadn't moved.  The knife gripped in his four-fingered hand, quivering with its point in the table, was clear enough proof of that.

The man took a deep breath as the door slammed, calmly prying the metal from the wood.

  "...Clever indeed, your majesty.  Though you'd best warn the guards.  I doubt that butcher will take long to act."

"It's so gratifying to work with people who are fast on the uptake for a change. Though I think you should prepare to defend yourselves. My personal guard are underpaid and unmotivated and it may be some time before the city guard responds. How do you know that Inquisitor, incidentally? Did you burn down his guardhouse or something of that nature?" In the distance, the sounds of a charge could be clearly heard. "Though I suppose we could discuss it later."
