"Eh? When didja..."
Her eyes narrowed in mock rage.
"Yer dare to rob th' dread 'orse thief, Roux?"
She swiped his bowl, and practically poured the contents down her throat, wiping her mouth off with the back of her arm. She leaned back and grinned.

"You underestimate the appetite of hungry priests. There is a reason some of the abbesses of my priory were a little on the plump side."
Bertholt takes Roux's bowl and manages to make inhaling the contents of a whole bowl look elegant.

The old woman serving the food narrowed her eyes at Bert and Roux. "No seconds."

Roux snorted.
"Th' only reason I didn't kidnap one o' them is 'cos I don't think me horse coulda carried the weight."
The red-haired horse theif raised her voice as she called to the old woman.
"C'mon, granny. Ain't no need to be stingy. Put in on Creos' tab or summin'."

: "She's just joking" Sam cut in, trying to soothe the serving woman's feelings. "It's been such a long time since we had a hot meal, I think she's letting her stomach do the talking."

Esther, while she was hungry, did notice Sharne leaving the room. Esther left after her, waiting for her to stop before she speaks.

"...So, I guess you're not hungry? From how the others were talking it sounded really good..." she said. As good a conversation starter as any.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Liam had also followed the others and come to the table sometime in the past few minutes, and was in the middle of scarfing down his rice and mutton in relative silence (compared to Bertholt and Roux, anyway). Old habits - when there was food, it was best to wolf down as much as possible before everyone cut in. Too bad there weren't seconds.

But they had survived the last fight, they had gained help, and they were being fed.

He supposed that was what contentment felt like.

Farra left to go join the others shortly after, telling those that were left to send her personal thanks to Creos and making doubly-sure the bow was in tip-top shape. By now, her food was plenty cool, and she went to eating. She was never the fastest eater, and always ate with conversation flowing at the table, so she decided to ask about this place to the woman working the food.

"Say, Ma'am, how long has this place been around? It's a fine establishment, and I only wish I could visit when the ashfall wasn't so heavy"
She brushed the ash off her armour while she thought of it, even though it would be a worthless effort by the time they left the building for even a minute.

Sharne shook her head.

"I've no interest in food right now. You should eat though. I'm just looking around, seeing if there's anything useful here. That's all."

"Admittedly, not all of them were quite so plump, but all of them were rather.....fetching."
A mischievous glint crosses Bertholt's eye.

"Dewy-eyed, fair-haired maidens with pleasant faces? Rather fetching."
Bertholt pauses a moment, before snorting.
"I fully admit, many of the sisters at the priory were beautiful women, yes, many worthy of good lovers of their own. But worry yourself not. Despite the flood of anonymous letters in my bedroom, I was there only to serve Rhea."

"Wha'? I ain't worried at all, dumbass!"
She crossed her arms and scowled.
"I don't care at all whether some dumbass priestesses give yer letters. Ain't my problem iffn they got no taste."

Martyn finished up his bowl in silence, then leaned back in his seat beside Sam.  It was, he had to agree, pretty good.  Certainly in comparison to the campside cooking and rations they'd been dealing with on the road.  Still, having to come back here for help...  Frankly, he could've lived with the rations, if the situation in Izzarra weren't bad enough to make them come out this way.

Still, things were what they were.  They still had a bit of time to wait before they could go pursue their first meeting with the Guilds.  And the group needed a moment's rest, even if he didn't feel he really deserved one with so much work to do.

He sighed and rolled his shoulders, watching the door close behind Esther as she followed Sharne out into the city.

"...Hm.  Kaldach, a question.  You and Sharne were pretty close before I returned to Izzarra, weren't you?"

"Has she spoken to you at all, recently?  She's been acting... more quiet than usual."

"Of course you weren't."
Bertholt's face has a serene expression. The tone of voice he's taking is rather more tellingly disbelieving.
