Now I got a very strange artifact...  It's not altogether strange with stuff like felsite thongs around, but still.

Godenerar Am, "Ropeled the Order of Speech". It's, well, a rope. A Pig tail rope.

This is a pig tail rope. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with pig tail. It is made from pig tail cloth. (Toady should scrap this bit from clothing, the initial name implies the material) The thread is midnight blue with dimple dye. (where the hell did he get that? Not that I mind, but I never made or bought dye, and didn't have a single dimple cup to make one from) This object is adorned with hanging rings of rope reed. On the item is an image of tall crosses in rope reed. (hanging rings on a rope is one thing. Images on a rope? Well, it might be crafty sewing I guess...) On the item is an image of dwarves in Wood opal. The dwarves are traveling. (... but this goes beyond crafty sewing. How the hell do you encrust a ROPE with gems to form an image?!)

Worth 22200. Got me a legendary weaver.

Since copper coins are worth 1 whole monie, it might be more like a 150.00 dollar sock.

Of course, given the state of the US dollar these days, it might well be more like $150,000.00. Maybe I can buy some rubles before my savings wither away...

My newly arrived blacksmith got a mood and gathered up eight materials, including two platinum bars. The result: Ìddor Edim, The Lark of Rays, a Platinum anvil. Worth 634800 monies. I got a legendary blacksmith, but he moves so slowly as he refuses to let go of that 8560 weight monstrosity that he barely ever makes it to the forge before he gets hungry/thirsty/sleepy.

Believe me, a $15,000 sock would NOT be comfortable. Imagine having a sock with rubies and menacing spikes of lapis lazuli?

I don't have the save to look at it again, but I remember the biggest item one fortress had was a dress worth nearly 70000. This same place had a bracelet as the second most expensive. My guess is that working with all of the silk emasculated all of them.

I was in a jewelling mood.  The trade agreement screen came up and I ordered every type of gem.  There were dozens of different gem types.  Then the caravan came and sold me one of each type I'd asked for.  Then I encrusted finished goods with all of them.  And most of them went onto the one item.  The full description of the item was nearly a full screen.</STRONG>

No, the best birthday present ever would be another matching sock so you could actually wear them.  ;)

Is it engraved with an image of the Valenzetti Equation?

My current fort's first mood was (unfortunately) a possession, but it led to the creation of Grandage the Deviant Silk of Dangling, an aluminium cabinet studded with aluminium.  On the item is an image of dwarves in aluminium.  The dwarves are laboring.  Valued at 144000 it caused my second wave of immigrants to number around 30.

Least valuable artifact was Brideaxes, a tower-cap table made of two logs.  Valued at 3600.

Favourite artifact is a headscarf named The Glorious Enchantments of Craziness.  I assume that wearing it is an interesting experience.

My history of getting women's clothing as artifacts continues. Now my best artifact is....

Dimolgiken, "Lurklightnings", a cave spider silk thong
This is a cave spider silk thong. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encrusted with Pyrite and encircled with bands of giant cave spider silk. It is made from cave spider silk cloth. this object is adorned with hanging rings of Bandfire Opal and menaces with spikes of dog bone and Ash. On the item is an image of a bucket in cave spider silk.

Oh, yeah, now that's what every guy wants on women in thongs. Menacing spikes of dog bone and wood, and pictures of buckets.

My last item was a platinum bed with bands of steel. I think my dwarves are getting a bit restless.

I had a peasant go Fey and create this:

Beardedprairies the Youth of Prowling, a Native gold crown. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. This object is adorned with hanging rings of Tower-cap and menaces with spikes of Native gold.
On the item is an image of a dwarf and a dog in Native gold. The dog is striking down the Dwarf.

Worth: 109,200

My guess is that the peasant was thinking about what happened to the last two Dwarves to go into a (Failed) Mood, as I have a habit of assigning them war dogs for the duration of their insanity.
