Even though temporarily splitting up would be the logical thing for a bunch of revolutionaries to do when on the run from the authorities?

I kinda doubt BMM42 will throw out a map for only one or two characters.

Not even bringing the OOC map or no map thing in, I thought it was a good compromise so we didn't have to argue about who gets to go to Rina's and if we should go together or send a few or whatever - this ends up sending whoever wants to go (edit: while maintaining some semblance of stealth).

Plus, better for us if Mordo thinks that we scattered to the winds and won't bother them anymore even though we escaped. Maybe they'll get a little complacent while we gather allies.

OOC, my main concerns with splitting the party are:

1.  BMM42 making the maps too difficult for a reduced team (or single person, since that means one screw up or bad roll and we're done) and killing us off.
2.  It makes the work more difficult for him.
3.  He might make multiple maps, which will slow things down considerably.

IC, I do sorta agree that splitting the party here makes more sense.

Yeah, we've basically got a conflict between what makes sense from our perspective and our characters' perspectives.

What if we cut everyone in half. That way, half of us can stick together, half of us can split up! Best of both worlds! We can split the party and not split the party by literally splitting the party!

Addressing Lucus's points:

1. I think we should trust in the GM.
2. Okay, but we've been given a choice. We may as well exercise our ability to choose - if he doesn't like the choice we make because it's too much work, he can very well railroad us into something else. I wouldn't begrudge him that.
3. I suppose BMM's statement about not underestimating him re: single/few person maps is a little concerning, given that everyone not in the map(s) might not have anything to post in IC for a while if true. Unless that's not what you mean.

I understand risk aversion, but I'm still sticking with what makes sense IC.

I'd like to address these too.

1. Thank you Gaterhyme. I will state however that maps with fewer people are going to be riskier, just because its going to increase the degree to which a couple unlucky rolls might affect you guys in a tight spot. I will of course endeavor to make them achievable, since there's no fun to be had in insta-gibbing you guys, but I feel like its a fair point to address.
2. Unless you guys try to, I don't know, be part of two maps running simultaneously (not that I can think of any reason that I would need to do that), I don't think there will be a problem for me in terms of effort.
3. If it comes to pass that I do need to do separate maps for two or god forbid three groups, I will do it and think nothing of it because it is within the nature of the choice I am giving to you guys. That would undoubtedly slow down the pace of the game for a bit, but I'm not particularly uncomfortable with that.

Sort of also depends on whether we can even sneak in, imo. The existence of a map with fewer people either implies stealth map or that we screwed up. Not sure what the mechanics for that will be (we did ok with the ambush mechanics in the first map I guess) or if it'll even be an option. just as long as we don't continually roll for stealth until we inevitably fail

I mean, the IC justification for splitting up is stealth. If we don't get that and are forced to fight that makes the option a lot less appealing.

To preemptively clarify: I'm not asking for confirmation either way; sadly, that'd be spoilers. :P

Why don't we all go to the village but keep most of the party outside for stealth's sake? Then if a fight happens, the commotion will allow the other party members to rush in in, say, a turn or two.

"No one was suggesting Sam be the one to go, Brock, should only one of us attempt it."

: "Well, the biggest problem in my mind is the fact that those soldiers might have seen our faces. If one of us shows up in town and that's where they're staying, they might recognize that person. He or she could be captured even if the Mordos don't know about Rina.

I'm from this area. I could find us some places to hide that no one other than a local would even think about."

Sam held her drum set over her head to try and keep even a little bit of the rain off.

Hold it!

Sam is referring to the fact that she is from Millton (the nearby city) and is suggesting that she could find a place for you guys to hole up there, not in Balkore where Rina is based.
