Noriko
"<Righty ho! Let's get going then!>"

So y'all head down the path into the chapel, trying not to make eye contact with nice men with the suits and guitar cases loitering by the entrance.

The place is mostly empty, with all the shit happening most of the guests hit the beach or the blackjack tables. A grey haired general caresses a sea slug the size of a dog on his lap, another is teleporting climbing along an invisible wall next to him, a corgi riding on its back. A bespectacled lady is lying across a pew, fast asleep.

Frankly you've no idea how she sleeps with the racket. The noise. The cacophony. Good god. Gunfire is the least of it. You hear the grinding shrieks of accretion disks, you stars exploding into nebulae, or at least, whatever the fuck that bouquet thinks those sound like anyway. Right, the bouquet. Turns out it's a little more exotic than roses. Well. Sort of. Could be a rose. Some hateful distant cousin of a rose anyway. Stardust for vines, degenerate matter for thorns. Tendrils that bloom with nova and and floral quasars for heads. A miniature cosmos condensed into a flower that is currently marching on the sandwich table and stalling. Stalling hard.

Its foe is no slouch, Lothgar the Undying, a man best described as a Michelangelo statue if Michelangelo statues did steroids. You could say he looks like the living statue of some long forgotten barbarian hero, but last time you checked barbarians weren't packing sawn-offs. This man is. You'd give him decent odds of fending off the baleful hydra-bouquet-fuckery if it weren't for the fact that he's currently being pelted with furniture and having to fend off raids by the psygulls.

Psygulls, yeah uh. Turns out they're literally just telekinetic seagulls. Like, literally seagulls, there's no fancy color schemes or mystic designs here they are literally just seagulls and they apparently have psychic powers, which have only made them bolder and more aggressive given that they're apparently more than happy to fight some sort of cosmic being and the guy winning a fist fight against said cosmic being.

Yeah. That's a problem for another time. You decide to give these asshats a wide berth. Ren quickly positions herself between Kouta and that shitshow, Patricija helping hurry everyone along.

You're not alone in the assessment either, the ominous figures in the dark robes have sat themselves in the opposite corner as far away as possible as they shovel offerings of godknowswhat into the toothy maw of what used to be the wedding cake. They'll need a new cake. Really they'll need a new buffet. Maybe a new venue at this rate, does it really have to be in the chapel? The beach doesn't look so bad.

Soon enough you reach the priest's office, up in front and just to the side. Your client (Ricard, apparently) moves to open it, dismissing his cane with a flourish and summoning a, is that a-

"<W-wait are you sure we should->"

...Okay, so the guy just crowbars the door open and without missing a beat slithers into the office.

"<It's fine! We do this all the time!>"

The office is a rather modest affair consisting little more than a desk, some filling cabinets and a laptop. It seems to have been left in a hurry - there's files and papers scattered across the desk, held in place by an open case, one that judging by its depressions held some sort of exotic implement, a weapon perhaps. A few drawers are unlocked and open too.

Ricard immediately gets to work examining the first shred of paper he sees, which apparently consist of the priest's tax returns.

Noriko, as usual, wasn't quite sure what to think of the display. Maybe she could have the cake try to eat the bouquet? Still, first thing was first, they needed to figure out where the priest had gone. Seeing the environment, it wasn't really shocking to think he might've fled it. "Do you know what went in this case?" That might provide a hint as to where he'd gone, at least. While she waited for an answer to her question, Noriko popped open the laptop, seeing if it or anything near it would offer any insight.

Shef and Yuki
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)

[Now Playing: Maul]

Okay so, Yuki immediately catches a spade to the face and gets swept off her feet, literally. But then the culprit, the Swordsman, catches your expulser which blows him right into her teleportation arrow and get just gets immediately KO'd. There's an explosion as you turn your weapon towards the Magician - reactive armor, but you've got more bullets headed her way and a reluctant second shooter minus the grassy knoll. And boy, what a shooter he is, the trembling Lurker's peashooter is not what you could call a powerful weapon but it turns out he's this motley's crew's little power supply because hoo boy that maximum power command pumps way more power into the shot that what you'd expect just fucking lancing into the Magician's side. Magic appearance seems to match those of the magic circles up in the sky

Right so who's it gonna be this time? Our mystery Assailant? The downed Swordsman? The shaken Lurker? Who's going to pop their anime "let's turn this battle around" supermode and get predictably gimped by Yuki or a tracer round to the throat? There's no point pretending it ain't gonna happen and things are going way too well for you guys right now so they should just bite the bullet and do it so you can give them a few dozen more bullets to chew on and ah there it is you feel magic surge through the surrounding areas as- OW EVERYTHING IS PAIN AGAIN OKAY YEAH IT'S HAPPENING IT'S DEFINITELY FUCKING HAPPENING NOW.

"H-huh? What's happening?"

Wait Hanako? She's really muffled but you can hear her and she's really near you for some-

「Portal Magic」. You sense portal magic, a lot of it too. Angled from above an awfully wide aperture pointed right towards you and- shit! three smaller portals, one more a long tear than anything resembling an eclipse, a close range attack aimed for your spine! Melee you think! The other two... they're yours? Cached portals? They burst open because you cut their power... but you have seven cached and you're maintaining all seven right now so what the hell is happening? Also catch the Magician for a moment as she summons something around you and Yuki and Hanako apparently, feels different to her previous spells, there's some things spinning around you lot and they're firing slow projectiles in from all directions? Also you can feel yourself sinking into the ground. When it rains it pours.

Yuki uh, what the fuck is happening? So the Magician gets nailed and then everything seems to shatter and now all of a sudden you're back in your original position from when Shef suddenly got his head trapped in that bubble of 「Pepper Spray」. Is this that a thing where everyone gets trapped in a time loop or something? Hmm no that can't be it - those circles above haven't shrunk back to their original states... Maybe they're made out of some sort of super special timeproof magic? Or maybe they're just out of range? They are pretty high up after all.

But other than that it's almost as if everything really did「Reset」. Except of course things are happening a little differently this time around. For starters, the Swordsman leaps off the balcony at a different angle and he swings his blade in mid air tearing open a portal out of which comes this massive heavenly spear crackling with arcs of divine wrath which is now rushing towards you and Shef.

You spot the Magician in the crowd but she spots you too and quickly rushes away to hide but not before summoning a bunch of magical circles around you and Shef and Hanako with designs resembling roulette wheels which just spin around you firing a whole load of these slow moving orbs of energy each the size of a grapefruit.

Also yeah there's like, a pool of water opening up underneath you both and you see tentacles rising from the depths and it's really just a bad time all around.

The Lurker and Assailant do not show themselves.

Silence washes over that TacNet, a hundred voices silenced at once, dozens of blips fading to naught. Illusions to illusions, ghosts to ghosts. It was a fake feed. Had been for the last several seconds. Voices drawn from archives, from other battles. Phantom blips drawn to bait traps and ambushes. The real comms must've already been in lockdown. Nice try. Rye cut the connection already. Now all that filters through the Magus comms are the muffled sounds of battle, of clashing blades and roaring gunfire, and of course that lone tenorous voice

Eagle Squadron
So the warheads blow, big icey freezey explosion, etc. etc. etc. You all get out, blowing past the edge of the blast zone and out of the mist cover. As the cryonic energies dissipate and the mist begins to fade a dozen new units streak out.

Armored crystals roughly the same dimensions as a child's coffin, fanning out in a wide spread. Their fronts heavy with sensor arrays, their rears laden with tentacles, and noticeably devoid of thrusters. Their trajectories are ballistic, no manuveuring to speak of. Recon.

Sparks dance across their forms as Cynthia turns her autoguns towards them, their delicate sensory arrays shredded in a matter of seconds. Their armored cores however prove much tougher, cracking and cratering but not breaking as they fall toward the sea below.

Eagle 3 Legion <<Evasive maneuvers. Now.>>
Magus 2 Sheriff <<Fire.>>

Missiles. A full fusillade of them, sixteen in total. Bundles of icey energy with prominent scintillating contrails that appear more fabric than vapor. They're spread wide, twelve aiming at Faith, four streaking towards Immanuel.

The mists clear and now you see their source.

They are dressed in a cross between hooded robed and plated armor, not quite one, not quite the other, but rather both melted together and refrozen. Billowing capes of icey plating, singular points of light peering out neath hardened hoods. Distributed thrusters systems flare with cryonic energy hurling them through the air with frightful speed while glistening ribbons tear out en masse from units located on their hits and in their gauntlets, scintillating filaments latching to nearby buildings grappling and reeling giving them chaotic unpredictable flight paths.

There's four of them. Apparently that was enough to decimate your allies. The tides of war have shifted once more. In the sky behind them you see fewer adventurers than you remember, facing off against what were once interceptors.

They are interceptors no longer, rather they've become aerial gun platforms, complex assemblies of the armor, thrusters, and missile pods built around a spinal autocannon. Jets of ice tear out from the noticeably weed-free sea into them, a supply line of raw cryonic matter to keep their prodigious expenditure in check, spears of ice and volleys of missiles tearing out of their weapons, thrusters blazing cold just to counteract their own recoil, just to keep them in the air.

Four squadrons are bursting forwards, not so much flying so much as firing themselves forwards, tumbling through the air and re-righting themselves on the fly, making their advance behind your new adversaries.

Magus 3 Galavant <<Alright people, let's do this!>>
Magus 4 Freon <<Target locked.>>

MAGUS
League Air Force
4th Air Division 2nd Air Force Unit
Emblem: A circular patch depicting a magician's wand with four missile fins and an arcing trail of smoke and stars, the squadron's details are written along the outer edge of the patch

So Immanuel, ontop of all this bullshit you immediately come under fire. You hear this weird pching noises, like the ones you'd hear in a western movie, the sound of a ricochet but it's not a ricohet off your armor or your swords. It takes you a second to realize it but they're collisions, mid-air collisions between bullets. Two deluges of munitions synchronized such that the rounds collide and scatter chaotically leaving brilliant thread-like contrails in your wake. You identify the sources as being the the one in the cowboy hat turning ribbons into a a rapid fire array of lever action rifles (Sheriff), and the one without the light under their hood and who's doing that same ribbon trick but with bolt action rifles instead (Freon). Also y'know, four missiles coming down at you. You realize they're going to try and force you to do your dash and then nail you either during it or as it ends when trajectory is the most predictable.

Faith, you gotta contend with the twelve other damn missiles, the madman with a lance and shield that's trying to apparently stab and or shoot you as soon as they're done jousting one of Cynthia's vessels (Galavant) and the asshole trailing feathers of ice and who has just tossed a phone away into the sea (Goose).

Distance, Goose might not be closing in on you but they seem to have you in their sights nonetheless, their ribbons turning into an array of ornate rifled muskets that spew their  deluge towards you in some crazy magical drive-by.

Also the two squadrons of Sky Wardens bringing up their rear are kinda just firing spears at ice aimed at anyone who holds still long enough for them to draw a bead.

Behind them, the allied forces shift their tactics, taking a more defensive approach as they weave between and sometimes through buildings, trying to whittle down the Sky Wardens with hit and run tactics before they can draw a bead.

It took significant effort to resist the urge to bring his hands up to his eyes when the pepper spray bubble returned. And this time? No voice in his mind, goddamnit, that wasn't part of the effect then. A real problem since in order to get rid of this, he needed to requiem the source. But. . . if he could feed his requiem through that aura. . . He wasn't certain if he could extend the reach enough, but it was vitally important to remove this. After that he could deal with the other issues.

Instinct [6] outwards, and use that to command the crowd to dispel their attack effects. Follow that by trying to portal self and Yuki out of the magician's killzone. Cached portal to try to block the melee attack, and ideally redirect the spear attack towards the magician. If it's too big to portal, just try to avoid it in portalling self and Yuki out.

Use Chain Lightning, then send an arrow through one of Shef's portal (and also go through one if possible) at the swordsman. Slash at the tentacles if they try to get grabby.

"<Looks like a weapon case, I'm afraid I don't recognize the depressions. Isabella?>"
The bride to be leans down, slowly running her hands across the depressions within the case. You're not entirely sure how much she'd really feel through plated armor, but apparently it's enough.
"<...Portable tabletop. I think. Some of the staff were carrying them, one could match the depressions.>"
"Oh those."
"You're familiar with them?"
"Heard of them. They're the weapon of choice for the Card Emperors. They're sort of like a domestic terrorist group with delusions of grandeur."
Oh. Those guys. You heard about them on the news a few times. They're yeah, somewhere between a terrorist organization and a criminal organization. That seems a bit way too concerned about children's card games. You kinda just assumed they were a schizophrenic hallucination right up until you overheard some of your classmates discussing them. If memory serves they recently tried to bomb a plane or something. Emphasis on tried to.
"They're not as big a threat as they think they are."
She smiles reassuring at you.
"Anyways... that would make it a weapon right? Not a tool or something?"
"<Not unless he needs to play poker on the move.>"
"So doubtful then?"

Yeah, doubtful. Guy was in such a hurry he didn't even lock the laptop. It's, kinda awkward to use, everything's in English and it doesn't really have physical keys or a mouse so much it's just a uniform slab with conduits you channel tiny amounts of spirit energy through. You eventually get the hang of it. Nothing too interesting on the browser unless you decide to take up baking anytime soon, but they do have one of those VoIP programs that let you make calls and texts through your computer instead of a phone. Looks like they had a recent conversation via SMS with someone. Number isn't one of their contacts. You skim through it looking for something of interest, something about the other person apparently deciding to drop by early for their date. Priest sounds rather hesitant at first in the messages, talking about them being at work and whatnot but after the other person gets real insistent and talking about er... "taking care of <his> little guy" and how sad said little guy will be if he doesn't show up, he relents reasoning "this <wedding>'s probably stalled for a while". Looks like they're meeting up real damn soon in a secluded part of this casino they call a garden.

"<...Is that a booty call?>"
"<It's worded really weirdly though, and why would he need that Portable Tabletop for it?>"

Shef and Yuki
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)

[Now Playing: Maul]

The ground ruptures. Stone gives way to water. Solid ground to a yearning abyss. Amidst the churning crowd two cards burn to cinders, the Ten of Hearts, and the Ace of Clubs.

Yuki, you immediately find a tentacle coiling around your ankle. Naturally you proceed to chainsaw that fucker right off. The one coiling around Shef, yeah, that's not really your department; chainsaw's not exactly a precision weapon.

There's a whole cavalcade of awful bout to hit your position. Firstly there's the other tentacles erupting out around you brandishing a siren, a police badge, a coupla cans of pepper spray, five batons, and a cop hat. Secondly, there's the glowing death testicles slowly drifting inwards from the roulette-themed magic circles orbiting your position. Thirdly, there's the y'know, giant heavenly spear of judgement about to come crashing down.

So with your legs feed and a portal open you just fucking peace on outta there. Hope Shef's okay. If he ain't, well that's what you've got healing magic for!

Shef yeah, things are looking a little less cheery for you. You blow three caches to catch a portaled blade strike aimed at your spine, having the presence of mind to keep those portals open when you realize the blade's own portal didn't close. That saves you from what happens next - beams of light tearing through the Swordsman's portal like gunfire.

Well, that's one threat out of the way. Course, there's still the matter of that giant spear, gotta give it to the guy - if we're talking sheer magnitude he's got you beat. You spring open five more caches and send it right back. He did admittedly drop out of the way by that point - you couldn't really lead the shot without risking hitting the crowd with it, but really this is more about sending a message. Softening everyone up for what comes next.

Could've tried doing it first, or simultaneously, but well, this is something new. Best save it for last and give it a bit more time. Just in case.

You focus, turning your mind away from the BURNING PAIN IN YOUR EYES and towards your aura dispersing it further and further. Magic and movement tingling at the edges of your consciousness as it washes over the crowd. And then, your command.

"<W-what's happening?>"
"<Comms compromised. Switch channels.>"

So, good news is that you manage to nail all of them with your requiem, dispelling both sets of magic circles and the bubble around your head. The bad news is that the slow moving orbits fired by the roulette circles still persist, as does the betentacled watery abyss beneath you.

The worse news? You didn't hit four enemies. You hit five.

The fifth assailant occupies the exact same place in space as the Domineering Assailant. They seem to be the source of the water. And they are not happy.

A pillar of energy erupts from the crowd with an unearthly shriek. It sounds like the heavens splitting open, it sounds like the wrath of a vengeful deity, like a dentist's drill against the human soul, like the mating call of a buzzsaw through helium. It is the cry of the mortall god.

[Now Playing: At The Very Beginning]

Yeah so uh Yuki, you're not 100% on what happened, but suddenly a lot of the things dispel, and then there's this pillar of light, and then all the water turns into blood. Or at least, you think it's blood? It's certainly the right color. You were pondering whether you should find the time to bottle some up for Shou when someone just erupts out of it, nailing Shef with a vicious uppercut.

It's a cop.

At least, you think it's a cop. She's got that American style cop hat at least. Though she does look a bit too young to be a cop. Her outfit's weird too. It's a short-sleeved dress coat with shorts and tie, heeled boots going all the way up her leg and elbow gloves. Also it's uh, all made out of leather?

Kinda weird. Especially since it looks kinda wet. Not like it's wet from the possibly-blood. Wet as in like it's still alive. Like it's the living flesh of some great leviathan. ...Which might honestly be the case given that it's now shifting before your eyes, the clothes all fusing together and chitinous plating, flailing tentacles, and unblinking eyes.

Anyways, your arrow is closing in on the swordsman, but he doesn't really run, he kinda just gives you a cocky grin before slashing the air and opening up a portal. He's about to make a teleporting strike to your side, stepping to the side as he does so and unleashing deluge of light beams.

The Magician meanwhile is bursting out of the crowd, summoning a coupla more of those roulette circles. These ones spew casino chips at you which explode in mid-air into chips of lower denominations, aiming to suppress you with clouds of slow moving flakfire. You see her cast a second spell as she does so though nothing else is jumping out at you.

Shef, you're actually pretty hurt right now. Not from the uppercut. That was a bit surprising sure, the Assailant suddenly vanishing before erupting from the water you're stuck treading, but it doesn't really hurt. No what hurts are the left over energy bolts from the Magician's circles. Those hurt. And can hurt in repeated succession. Yeah, they should need to recharge between each hit... but you're pretty sure they've got a workaround. They're using the Lurker as some kinda magical power supply and keeping it all pumped up. Guess they were all trying to hustle you. Great.

Still, you might be pretty hurt, your eyes might still be watering, you might be stuck in a bind treading water, locked in a fistfight with some kinda dominatrix, but you still got a gun, you've still got your portal magic, and above all, you've still got that aura out giving you the positions of all your foes. Don't think you can keep this up for too long though.

"<You're only making this harder on yourself, stop resisting arrest and I won't punish you too much ~ ♥>" the assailant purrs, brandishing a police baton. Tough words, but you know she's no longer the one calling her shots. Whatever that Regalia she's wearing, it's got a bone to pick with you and at this point she's probably just along for the ride, like it or not.

A white border appears behind her, framing her visage. In upper left and lower right corners are a black J and a club symbol. Streams of card suit themed projectile start firing out around her position, the streams of bullets spiralling out in a pattern that alternates between rotating quickiy and slowly, a distinction that matters little when you're practically point blank and the projectiles actually move at decent speeds for once. May need to do something about that.

"Woman, I have no idea what you're talking about." Shef grumbled. He wasn't the one who'd gotten black-out drunk and forgotten everything last night, so what the hell was up with this. Either way, she was fairly cocky for her position. Granted, everyone on her side was fine, but if their comms were down, and he knew where everyone was. . . well last time he'd known where most of them were they'd needed to dial back the clock. And Shef did not feel at a loss for tricks, or power.

Tracer into the crowd on the lurker. Shoot the tentacle on the leg, then single portal below to suck in water and Shef, and pop them out somewhere in the air with a good shot on the tentacle monster. Swap to grenade launcher, and hit the tentacle beast with it.

"Oh hell, this is stupid," Faith declared as Magus Squadron was revealed to her in its full, bizarre glory, and with a frustrated grimace stretching her lips, Faith tucked into a roll in midair that had her suddenly changing directions. While it was of course tempting to just fly away and take more evasive action, Faith began to suspect that if she started doing that she would never stop. So instead she elected to take advantage of the wide dispersal of the missiles, flying right at the knight, and lancing a Freedom Beam out at the missiles directly converging in the way between her and her opponent, while making a sporting attempt to hit him with the same beam. The others she was just going to try to fly right past, hoping that they were forced to inefficiently slow down or miss entirely. Eagle 4 Sailor Sun: <<"Legion, uh, Nemesis I'm gonna go in on the full medieval one -- please don't let them complete their charges on me!">>

Faith tries to dodge the missiles by rolling around and going through the wide spread, blasting Galavant and any missiles converging directly on her path to him with a Freedom Beam! (She's not actually trying to REACH him yet though, for probably obvious reasons.)
World Line: 6 4 4 1 1 4 5 5 1 5

Distance scoffed as one of her foolish foes tried to charge directly past her, her of all people. "You will find that the Sinister Magical Girl of Space, Distance Dark, is not so easily ignored!" she shouted, probably completely inaudibly considering that they were in fact having a battle in the sky with jetpacks and magic everywhere. But what was probably a lot harder to miss than her words was the vicious bending of space that she unleashed on Goose with a harsh sideways chop of her hand. Taking advantage of his speed, she tried her best to nail him with an Einstein's Shears, even as she bobbed downwards to avoid his volley of shots. The uneven bending of space was designed this time to hopefully induce a bit of torque on him, with the intent of causing him to spin out of control from his charge.

Distance evades and uses Einstein's Shears on Goose, trying to give him a bit of a twirl with it!

"So he has a quick date, at a casino, but they're talking about his 'little one' in a way that might not actually be a euphemism. He had to be convinced to go, but he brought a weapon?" Noriko shook her head. "I'm not even going to try and guess. We should probably track him down, as much as I don't really want to drag Kouta around a place like that."

"We keep running into people with berserker super modes! You guys don't really value self control much do you?" Yuki said cheerfully as... well things went weird, but to be honest it would be much much stranger if things stayed normal, although maybe this was normal for this city so who knew?

But well Shef was dying so priorities, she tossed some healing magic his way so he could probably not get taken down by being clubbed over the head. Then, next priority, slashy guy but honestly he wasn't a big problem, probably should stab the mage instead because he's just gonna keep being a problem until he's defeated. So Yuki goes to do that.

Alter current result to 5. Use Salvation of the Goddess with the next 3 in line. Then, get out of the way of the teleport-y slash and charge down the mage.

Oh, and if the arrow is still active, send one towards Shef's assailant. Or if not active, make one and send it.

"Oh come on! Magical girls are supposed to be the good guys aren't they?," Immanuel complained to no one in particular, as he drew his swords closer to him, attempting to use his newly enhanced geometric prowess to calculate a proper flight path for his swords, trying to find the right time to launch them at the missiles heading his way to create a screening blast he could make his escape from.

Immanuel tries to make Emiya proud by attempting to throw swords at the problem until it goes away, hoping that the explosion caused by the missiles will fog up the field enough for him to move somewhere the dynamic duo can't combo him from.

Shef and Yuki
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)

[Now Playing: At The Very Beginning]

"<We do! But Prez's suit has a mind of its own. Never seen it so angry before though...>"

Four cards in two pairs. They burn to naught bringing their spells to life.

The first around the Assailant is the Jack of Clubs and the Five of Spades. The second around the Magician is the Seven of Hearts and the Five of Diamonds.

You charge forwards chainsaw sparking as it grind along the ground behind you, arrow swerving towards the Assailant.  There's an explosion somewhere else on the battlefield. A girlish scream too. Good, that means you're winning~ Something breaks your arrow, you don't bother turning to see what as you charge straight into the flak, and through it. It doesn't hurt. Not at all, the flak doesn't seem to be doing anything. Face flushed with a lot more concern now, the Magician draws a combat knife holding it close, though strangely you get the feeling it's aimed more at herself than you as you swing your chainsaw forwards and...

Light. Blinding light. The light of a setting sun filtered through a pair of shutter shades. The kriegsmesser catches your blade, not so much parrying it so much as guiding it, warding it against its wielder as it traces a path across your shield, splitting it open. The strike does not hurt. The barrage that follows, okay yeah that kinda hurt. Beams of light rip through the portal and into your body blasting you away from your target at the last moment.

The Swordsman stands blade readied, light filtering through his kanye shades, five rings of light rippling from the ground at his feet. "<Let's not get too hasty; I'm your opponent here.>"

He nods to his comrade.
"<Look after Izzy. I'll handle this.>"

The Magician begins moving away, presumably towards the Lurker a card in hand and drawing three more. The Swordsman meanwhile just fucking charges at you, that strange light in his eyes as he slashes the air and sends a fusillade of beams your way. You've the feeling that's just the opening, he's waiting to see what you do and readying to counter it with his portal magic.

"<Fufufufu~ We both know I have to arrest you for my practicals Mister Instructor. But if you're going to resist like this, I guess I'll just have to subdue you ~ ♥ By the way, I like it when perps don't exercise their right to silence, it makes it so much more fun ~ ♥>"

Shef, you just fucking Tracered the Lurker. He's still in the fight unfortunately, explosive reactive armor, looks like the whole squad's equipped. Shouldn't protect against a Tracer normally, least not when worn by a student, but your target's a living power supply. He must've diverted all his output into his armor at that moment. Enough to come through unscathed. A mistake. He's as skittish as he seems.

His defence worked alright. It was fucking overkill right, pumped all that power into that armor, enough to block your Tracer, enough to block it twice over at the very least. That's a lot of power, power that should have gone else where. Like into the barrage of shots rushing towards you. Many hit. Only a single one discharged. The Magician's rate is limited and it looks like she's had to use her first discharge to take out Yuki's arrow when it went for the flank. You got hit once. Only once and thanks to Yuki you had a shield from that heal so you're only slightly hurt. In return you put a bullet into the tentacle around your leg. Can't break it, it's a Regalia after all, but you disrupt it, hit it hard enough to interrupt its material form and portal the hell out. Not a bad exchange.

You cut power to the clip. It's a standard NOT gate configuration, it does something when the input gets cut. In this case it triggers a servo in the clipping mechanism, the mechanism holding the grenade launcher on your back, dropping it through a portal and into your grasp. Safety off, trigger pulled. No need to even aim, you've got portals for that, launching it right at the Assailant.

Her outfit's shifted further now, grown a little less fetishistic a little more monstrous. It's a bit bigger now, a bit more streamlined and predatory in appearance, a bit more mechanical and regal too. Chitinous plating dotted with thruster outlets, a crown of light and an armored mantle. Tentacles are a lot more prominent too, sturdier, more numerous. Going to be harder to disrupt you suspect.

Its movements are calculated, deliberate, but the sharpness, and energy of the movements, it betrays the rage and power within. Like a beartrap waiting for its prey.

Said calculated movements are currently being used to try and not get blown up by a grenade. Arms and tentacles raised to block, thrusters flaring to evade.

Sorry, but that ain't an explosive. It's a bind, and that blocking? It won't do shit.

Phantasmal chains erupt from the grenade wrapping around the berserk Regalia's limbs and tentacles and anchoring them to the ground and nearby walls, trapping Regalia and wearer in a spectral web.

Said wearer's response is pretty simple, she's gonna take that pepper spray orb spell, that one that you can't really intercept with a portal, that one that you're pretty sure Yuki can't dodge either (given that you've only ever seen her dodge by coincidence) and nail you both with it as her Regalia struggles futilely against its chains.

Using your extended aura is... it's yeah not sustainable and that little explosion cleared the crowd enough that you can see where everyone is now with the pepper spray clear from your eyes. Need to find a good time to do it though, time it wrong and you'll probably get nailed when all the strain catches up to you.

Oh also, you're pretty sure that Swordsman is using something like Stella's eyes. Doesn't seem to be quite the same though.

[Now Playing: Awakening]

Immanuel, you bring your swords in close deflecting a few ice spears in the process as you fly away from the missiles. It's pretty obvious that you can't outrun them but you don't need to outrun them, just intercept them. Easier said than done, you can't just fly away and wait for them to run into your swords, you're under fire and your foes aren't kinda enough to fire at you from a single angle. You're forced to coordinate your dashes with the speed bursts of your own blades, doing one hail of bullets and blocking the other until... Now! The missiles slam into your blades detonating in blasts of freezing energy. You pull your blades in close and commit to a longer dash but as you do you see something scintillating in the corner of your eye.

Those bullet contrails. They're not contrails. They're thread. Monofilament wires. That little shooting trick they did? It's not just to make it that little bit harder to dodge, they were scattering the wires, creating a spider's web around you. And now as they burn with ice energy, now as you try to fly out the web, they begin reeling it in, trying to trap bind and freeze in the imploding net. Evasion is impossible. You're gonna need to block or blast your way out. Punch a hole and tear free. Or call for help.

Distance, the fuck? The fuck is this? They freeze the whole district, drag you away from your beloved and into this fight with their second rate posse and they don't even give you the time of day for a proper duel? This won't stand! You'll get your fight, a proper fight not some half-arsed drive by attempt, you'll make them fight.

You weave through the bullets, twisting space to create path in the barrage seize Goose with your spell. Their velocity turns against and you hear a deafening CRACK! as great fissures tear through their armor, some kind of frosty energy leaking from their internals as their drive-by turns into a tumble. Ha take that! Wait what's that glistening- Oh! Those contrails from their bullets? They're threads and now they're reeling them in, their tumble turning into a spin as they conjure twin blades of icey energy, a flying blender ricocheting through the air at high speed towards you an angry burst of static hissing from their speakers . Looks like you've gotten your fight.

Faith, something weird happens. Galavant was rushing towards Cynthia's drone but then they suddenly stop. They just peel away, taking a burst of autogun fire for their trouble, their kite shield shattering under the barrage but sparing them from any real damage. You felt something? But it's faint, too faint for you to really know what.

At any rate now they're coming for you, their missiles too, and since you've committed to charging at them, there's a few ice spears being fired your way too. Okay. Okay. You can do this. You're "safe". Doesn't feel safe, but they don't want blood on their hands either. If this fails you just get frozen. That's all. They'll pick you back up down stream thaw you. You'll be alright. So it's okay to try this kinda calls to the ball crazy shit. Try it out with no risk. Just ignore how sharp those spears look and remember that no one's gotten wounded yet.

Yeah think about it a little more intellectually. Use your head. Now focus those emotions, that bravado, that uncertainty, that hope, that fear and drive it forwards. A wide angle burst of energy erupts from your hand vaporizing the spears and most of the missiles in an instant. A few missiles remain, too far on your flanks to get caught, too far on your flanks to hit you too as-

Something clicks. Something inside the missiles. OH SHIT. THEY DON'T NEED TO HIT? THEY CAN DO THAT?

SHIT SHIT SHIT.

You feel it! The magic inside them! They're gonna blow, catch you in the blast.

Fuck fuck fuck. What the hell do you do? Think Faith, think! could you beam them? Maybe? Maybe? You think you can but it could drain you and the big bad guy hasn't even shown up yet! And, and that knight is still charging at you. Can react in time? Maybe you could force some of the beam's energy backs and- Wait wait wait... you felt that. The missiles readying to detonate. The magic inside them. That's your energy manipulation right? So if you could feel them, then you could you, could you- fuck it, outta time, trying this shit.

You reach into the missiles on one of your flank and clamp down, hard. You force your will onto it, trying to jam them, keep them blowing for just long enough, just long enough to pass and you swerve towards them.

Cold. It feels cold. So so cold. A bitter biting cold through your coat. The freezing blasts a couple to your right, a couple behind. None of them ontop of you. It worked! It worked!

There's a rush of air and the you see that your assailant has disengaged peeling off in the opposite direction, having moved to avoid the honeytrap Cynthia had summoned in their path. Still they seem unharmed a bit of a surprise to be honest. Sure they didn't charge right into your blast and it was pretty dispersed and they were a ways back to the damage would've been fairly limited sure. But you'd have thought it might have dealt some damage at least.

Then you see it, the swirling mix of gold and purple whirring around them, spreading out and fading to naught. They caught your blast. They can manipulate energy too. They must have some kind of upwards limit, something you could probably exceed, but you're gonna need a direct hit. Grazes won't work against these guys.

They disengage, flying away as the Sky Wardens bring their full attention towards you, firing a deluge of icey spears at you. One Cynthia's drones pursues Galavant, the other returns fire on the Sky Wardens with missiles.

AWACS ReaperEye <<Warning! Eagle 4 has displayed antimissile capabilities!>>
AWACS ReaperEye <<I think it's some form of energy manipulation, range unknown.>>
Magus 3 Galavant <<So no missiles then?>>
AWACS ReaperEye <<Not from afar. But if you get in up close your Shell's EMS should be able to counteract it.>>
Magus 2 Sheriff <<If we get up close those blasts are gonna fry our Shell, EMS or not!>>
AWACS ReaperEye <<Not saying it's the only option to fight. Ballistics won't have enough charge to manipulate. Monofilaments should work too so long as you don't flood them with energy.>>
AWACS ReaperEye <<Fight at your discretion.>>
Magus 4 Freon <<...You're going to try jousting them aren't you, Gal?>>
Magus 3 Galavant <<Hell yeah I am! Gimme some time to reposition I'm going back in for Round 2!>>

Through the TacNet you can see the red icon start to fall fall one by one. You can't see the position of the other squadrons but the status feed that shows who's just been shot down is moving real slowly. Looks like your allies are turning things around.

Noriko
Your name is Noriko Fuuri and you are not a pervert.

Okay yes there was that time at the mansion with the wind and the panties, but shit was going down and thanks to that previous fight you kinda had panties on your mind okay? And okay you might have appreciated the eye candy Patricija threw out but it was just there and you're on vacation, you're allowed to appreciate the sights every now and then! That doesn't make you a perv.

What you're trying to say is you might be in a secluded grove in a surreal casino-garden hiding in the bushes with your little brother, your mentor, and two rando adventurers spying on what sounded like, and what honestly right now looks like a booty call, but you're not doing it because you're a pervert. You're doing it because circumstance is a bitch and God if he exists (and he better be praying he doesn't) has a real sleazy sense of humor.

The priest is dressed a little more casually than the rest of the chapel-but-really-it's-just-a-casino's staff, presumably since he's currently off the clock. Powerfully built with a chiseled face framed with a smart pair of glasses and a muscular frame veiled with a white dress shirt, pale pink pants and a yellow scarf loosely draped over his chest. The lady facing him doesn't look too bad herself especially in her little black dress.

"<I'm so glad you could make it, so sorry for changing the time but something came up for I'm busy the rest of the week.>"
"<It's fine.>"
"<Though I have to say, weren't you selling yourself a little short? I mean if I knew you had a figure like that...>"
You cover Kouta's eyes. That look she's giving you'd rather he not be exposed to it.
"<Where's the hostage?>"
She falters, she looks like she's deciding whether to be shocked or to try and laugh.
"<Hostage?>"
"<I need to know if he's okay first.>"
"<Um, I don't understand?>"
"<I've got the money. Let me see the boy.>"
"<Uh... I'm really sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about.>"
"<The boy you're holding hostage, I'm hearing for the hostage exchange.>"
"<But I don't have a hostage!>"
"<But what was that about my 'little guy'?>"
"<Your, y'know your d*ck I didn't want to say it like that because it sounds so vulgar...>"
"<But the voice modulator->"
"<Oh was the connection bad again? I swear my house is like a faraday cage.>"
"<Oh shit.>"
Patricija gives you one of those looks. Those awkward "should we step in?" sorts of looks.

What a farce. Right to remain silent? There'd been no statement of those rights, seemed like she was just a schoolgirl with an overinflated ego. It was a shame too that the kid wasn't down for the count. For now though, Shef had nothing guaranteed that he could do. He'd get a last command off with his requiem, but with the kid sprawled flat and having presumably used all his power reserves, no guarantee that it would do much to command him to shoot himself. Well, it was a side venture that was worth a shot. If it failed, it was less of an issue than the main task. Shoot yourself kid. The reason was left for him to figure out. Maybe he was trying to shoot something else and his hand would move wrong, maybe he'd believe that under Shef's control he'd need to take himself out to keep from hurting his allies. Who knew.

Back to the main task, Shef conjured a portal into his pocket, summoning a new mag for his gun into his free hand. The old magazine did not leave his gun though, and the new magazine was not brought up to be loaded. Instead he swept it out, scattering the rounds forward at the monstrous regalia, before firing a burst of normal shots.

With the last burst of the requiem aura, command the lurker to commit die. Deactivate requiem and aura. Scatter the last magazine of clothing damage rounds at the trapped assailant, and detonate them in chain reaction with regular shots. Pinpoint fire based on where the clothing damage rounds explode, prioritizing head and torso. This is done with Rapid Fire[4]

"God, this is a disaster in every way. It actually hurts to watch." She let her head thump into the ground in front of her, sighing into it, before popping back up. "I can't take this." She stood up and simply walked towards the priest, hoping that the fact that everything in this place was insane would provide her some excuse for abruptly appearing from the bushes. "Hey, uh, priest guy? There's an issue we need your help with and I don't think this right here is really going anywhere."

Use lowest 5 for a Black Arrows hyper, send them all at the dude from different directions and angles, and charge him down - try to set it up so that if he tries to intercept he's running into arrows. Also, heal self.
