Tank the hit, attempt to catch it on the exoarm, at the base of the dagger. If it breaks, yay. If possible, use the phosphorus cover to drop down below the stage. Snap the portal closed as quickly as possible to prevent anyone knowing exactly where Shef went. Then portal out of the building. If no one has appeared to follow, potion up, switch rounds, and head around to the front door.

While Yuki can't really stop herself from attacking Shef, she can decide how hard she does it; instead of following through with a chainsaw, when her arrow catches up to him she'll just punch him instead.

So Yuki just fucking up and punches Shef, fist glancing off his exoarm and into his shoulder. He spins and falls as the white phosphorous saturates the air. A radiant slash rends through the haze and the fragments of a broken aegis scatter through the air.

Yuki, your aegis soaked the blow though now there's burning white powder sticking to you and scorching your clothes. You sense movement inside the plume, a silver blade burning with radiant light and the promise of indiscriminate violence.

"<Little girl, put your panties back on and face me.>"

Faith, Minato, you guys can't really see what happened inside the burning cloud, what is happening with the Adventuress, with Yuki, with Shef, but you can see the Archer's arrow skid to a halt in midair while she holds her shortbow out above the stage and lets go?

"<Limiter off.>"

Shef, you're below the stage. Fucking hell that hurt. Not a direct hit mind you - you managed to move your exoarm in the way and you've a feeling Yuki aimed for it too, still the blow had plenty of force. The white phosphorous wasn't exactly pleasant either, but that still plays second fiddle here Right, first thing's first, you strip off your shirt and toss it away. It's ruined anyways and the powder's stuck all over it. You switch magazines and get the hell out. You draw a few eyes as you exit the theater though you've the feeling they were more eating the eye candy than anything else. You're fairly hurt, but you've had worse. Can't really heal up with a potion without this counting as a forfeit on your part, but you should be fine now given who your ally is.

With any luck your foes won't have even realized you're gone, not until that cloud dissipates anyways. That keeps the Adventuress out of her effective range and helps you re-engage at your own effective range. Those nuclear arrows are going to be problematic, but you can keep it at bay with your portal caches, at least long enough to gun down the source. Speaking of gunning people down last thing you saw, the Eccentric Novelist was near one of the entrances, you think he might've been drooling slightly oggling at the Adventuress. With any luck you'll be able to put two in his spine before he can even react. Biggest threat here would be the Eclectic Summoner. Another section of that rune burned away but he's still got one decree left on Yuki, might be worth hitting her with a manipulator honestly.

Shef, after checking to make sure he wasn't followed out, reinitiated his illusion. Who needed a shirt with an illusion like this. With luck, this group wouldn't know of that--he didn't recall Ignis' social media feed mentioning it, that stuff had been strictly combat--and he'd have yet another element of surprise on his side. He made his way to the entrance. Quickly, of course he didn't want to leave Yuki alone too long, but taking enough time to remove his combat knife from his arm. For now, he kept it the same hand, hopefully providing enough semblance to being mounted that his opponents wouldn't notice, once the illusion was broken of course.

Reactivate illusion. Remove knife, hold it in the same hand. Change out ammo type. Head to the front of the theater, enter. Shef will keep his gun behind his back, and use a series of portals starting from the muzzle for Rapid Fire [4] on the novelist, so that it appears to come from an angle other than the entrance and Shef's illusion.

Don't replace the arrow since it could just get diverted again. Instead just surprise attack of JUSTICE on the archer, chainsawing her and hopefully landing nearby instead of falling back down. Use the new 6 in the world line for that.

Blades of light spiral out from the ashen cloud blindly rending the air in search of their prey. They find none.

Yuki appears above panties still unequipped. Thankfully for well, really for Faith more than anyone else, her burning outfit seems to have adapted to an extent fabric shifted as to create a leotard to compensate for the lack of panties and the fact that the formerly long and armored skirt is now far from either. It's probably for the best really given that the panties have now been coated with white phosphorous, kept from burning thanks only to Reinforcement magic.

Anyways, she just takes this wild swing at the Archer. It, yeah, it's not a gentle blow. There's this flash of light, this furious roar and things break. The stagelights explode, the rafters tear, and the entire backdrop splits open broken gears crashing down from what lies behind, a weeping wound in a mechanical giant. And in the middle of all of this is the Archer, reeling, falling backwards, a radiant line tracing where the Regalia struck her.

A thunderous impact that shakes the theater to its very core. Dust and debris erupt from the ground, from what was once the stage, now split in twain. That, was not magic. No, it was the absence of magic. Disconnected from its master the shortbow's enchantments had shorted out, one by one. And chief amongst them was the mass dampener. That crash, that impact, that, was the true weight of the bow.

The Archer shifts her posture, righting herself back up, and with that same motion drives her fist into Yuki's head.

The dust clears, the white phosphorous too, blown away by the force of the impact. Gears haemorrhage from the clockwork expanse behind the stage, broken brass raining down below.

The Adventuress stands alone on the stage. Shef is nowhere to be seen. A fact that Summoner would probably point out if he weren't now stuck clinging onto the scaffolding, having almost been thrown off by the impact.

Yuki is quite hurt. Quite hurt and nothing more than that. The impact, the phosphorous still burning upon her, that was all it had managed. The Archer was hurt too, not as hurt, but still somewhat hurt. And of course, she was grinning.

"<Haa... ha... You really are the real deal. Good. Good. My name is Magnum von Chainsaw. Come, and I will crush you.>"

He's just gesturing at her to approach, readying to answer with a haymaker of his own.

The Summoner is currently climbing back up and scanning the crowd while the Adventuress is just rushing offstage and out of the spotlight.

Amidst all that commotion is a series of quiet muted coughs. No one hears it. No one notices. And with that, the Eccentric Novelist spins dramatically and falls, healing magic coursing through his body and ten bullets in his spine.

Yuki was smiling just as much and didn't seem to much notice the whole "literally burning" thing, at least not enough to comment. "Oh, does that mean you have a chainsaw? Or are your fists chainsaws or something? And does your name need to be shouted in that big voice like MAGNUM VON CHAINSAW? Oh and I don't think you're gonna crush me, if you could do that easily I wouldn't be doing so good as an instructor right? But it looks like you won't be easy to beat either, which will be super fun!" Yuki called back, taking a moment to rev up her chainsaw again as she charged forward. Also healing herself while she does that.

Use the 4 to heal self, also send an arrow out keeping pace with Yuki but diverting to come at the archer from a different angle. Charge, try and set it up so that the arrow will make contact at the same time Yuki lunges to make her attack.

Shef, having done what he wanted, made his way back to the entrance to the theatre, relying on the cover of his illusion. One down, three to go. He'd go for the summoner next, to give Yuki a better chance against her adversary. But, before that, he'd need a few things.

Exit the theatre, make sure to not be followed, then jog over to the explosives store right next door. Search for and purchase a mountable retrieval unit, that, when activated will pull two items together with substantial force. This is to be mounted on his exo arm, and knife. Search also for a fold-out disposable grenade launcher (limited use, attempt to find something that he could jury rig the hollywood silencer onto), and three rounds. Fragmentary preferred, but willing to switch things up if something interesting is noticed.

Well as for other grenade options you find

Clothing Damage: Because it seems to be working out for you so far.
Basically White Phosphorous & Anthrax: Apparently it's a thing.
Phantasmal Chains In case you want to bind rather than injure.
Quadruple Recursion: Grenades that explode into smaller grenades that explode into smaller grenades that explode into smaller grenades
Murderous Lightning Tree: Explodes into a tree of lightning that zaps everything near it for area denial.
Fuel-Air: Basically a miniature fuel-air bomb.
World War I: Carves trenches into the terrain, lays barbed wire ontop of it, sprays horse entrails everywhere and then proceeds to saturate it with random shelling and mustard gas.
Lube: It just sprays lube everywhere and makes things slippery. Like, really, really slippery.
Molasses: A fast moving blast of molasses. Good for jamming up a construct's visual sensors. Or brewing whiskey in the field.
Life Drain: For harming foes without blowing foes away.
Seed Crystal: Sprays fragments of crystal everywhere that embed in objects and proliferate.

And yeah there are retrieval units, main varieties being tethered (reels shit in), untethered (reels shit in but without a chord), and teleportation-based. Grenade launcher you definitely find.

Binding, would that perhaps bypass the novelists restrictions? Shef guessed yes, grabbed one, and then two other grenades. Given that this was a training exercise, mixing it up and experimenting was probably something he should give a bit more of a shot.

Untethered retrieval unit, one frag, one recursion, and one phantasmal chain grenade, and of course the launcher please. Make the purchases as quickly as possible, and smack the retrieval unit on Shef's knife and exoarm. Head back again to theater.

So the Adventuress just kinda runs off stage, seems like she's not much faster than a regular person when not teleporting everywhere. Her cleaver seems to have turned into a silver sword, because apparently it's constructed like an oversized popsicle with a sword instead of a stick and white phosphorous instead of sweet icy goodness.

"<Ho ho ho! A name is just a name! My fist on the other hand...>"

You heal up and cut interrupt him with strike from your chainsaw, but this time you find your attack is INEFFECTIVE, glancing off MAGNUM'S ROCK HARD ABS with a metallic shriek and not much else as HIS FIST OF FURY COMES CRASHING DOWN TOWARDS YOUR FACE AGAIN LIKE LIKE A SPEEDING SEMITRAILER IF SPEEDING SEMITRAILERS WERE MAGNUM'S FISTS.

Behind him, a black arrow snakes into position and discharges...

Teleporting behind MAGNUM, Yuki wreathes her weapon in something like lightning, in arcing steel and whirring teeth, screaming blades and thunderous force. For the lack of a better description the chainsaw was wreathed in itself. Bolt and blasted tree become one and the same, become steel, become violence.

She had already forgotten the Bodhisattva's lessons, but such mattered little for her body remembered.

It crashes into him from behind him, a radiant slash splits and merges tracing lichtenberg figures through his body and exploding out the other side, ragdolling the boy and throwing him off the rafters. That, ooh boy, that one definitely hurt.

He slams against the side of the scaffolding, his CHISELED FRAME SNAPPING THE PUNY SCAFFOLDING LIKE A TWIG, A TWIG HE NOW BRANDISHES LIKE A SWORD, FOR WHAT IS WEAK BECOMES STRONG IN THE HANDS OF MAGNUM VON CHAINSAW.

"<To think you could break my defenses! You do not disappoint! Jerry, do it.>"
"<You got it! Maggie, by my first decree I command you to whoop her ass!>"

So the Summoner takes time off of searching for Shef (or at least, searching for Shef on the Adventuress' body) to swap the Yuki rune for another three-part rune likely corresponding to MAGNUM VON CHAINSAW. Spirit energy crashes through the scaffolding in MAGNUM'S CRUSHING GRASP as he adjusts it in his grasp, TWENTY METERS OF REINFORCED BLACK METAL BROUGHT TO BEAR, SWUNG TO SWAT HIS FOE OUT OF THE RAFTERS.

Yuki, your throat feels a bit parched and you feel a bit winded. Is it from that punch earlier? Or did you catch a cold? Do Awakened people even catch colds?

Shef, you are beginning to feel some flu like symptoms. Onset's faster than what you'd expect. Likely some kinda poison-like effect. Or a bioweapon. Still it's not shaping up to be as bad as what Ignis di- wait a minute. You saw that grenade that was basically just white phosphorous and anthrax... you don't think the Adventuress used that same blend in her blade do you?

Though she was still pretty irritated and really had more than half a mind to chew out the summoner later, Faith's rage had simmered down rapidly after Yuki's outfit adjusted to cover her, and she sat back down, crossing her arms, and... the fucking stage exploded and things started going absolutely wild, with heavy impacts landing left and right and turning that stage into a god damned warzone. At that point, Faith decided that she would rather not be in the front row anymore, and once again scrambled back into some of the rear rows.

She also sensed a curse multiplying within her sister's body, and she winced, because it was in her lungs and that was messed up, but she really actually didn't intend to interfere in the fight parts of the fights here in Kingshaven so she stayed quiet.

What was even the point of the anthrax really, just double up the warcrimes? Not that it was actually that big a deal in awakened fights. But Shef was fairly certain that white phosphorus would already cause lung irritation, just through the oxide fumes and being breathed in. Well, it wasn't the worst to be honest. Painful and irritating, but he'd escaped the cloud early so his dosage might be low.

Shef once again entered the theater, finding a location near the middle where he could inconspicuously fire the grenade launcher. A portal in the floor, connecting to a spot a few rows forward, seats ideally camouflaging his attack. Loading the recursive grenade (double checking to be certain it was the right one), Shef took aim at the summoner's form.

Use the grenade launcher and the quad recursion grenade, aim for the summoner. Imbue the grenade with Expulser[3] properties, for hopefully added oomph. If the adversaries notice before the grenade impact, use portals to bypass their defenses as best as possible.

Yuki coughed a bit - her throat felt itchy and she kinda felt tired, but well, random magic stuff probably, the enemies seemed to be good enough at it for that. "Hey, did you guys do some weird magic thing to me? My throat feels weird." Yuki said, before lifting her chainsaw again. "Well, I'm going to try and finish this quick, before it gets too much worse! Get ready VON CHAINSAW! (I think the yelling is required for that right?)" Pretty much at the same time that Yuki was going into one of her many monologues she was preparing another round of chain lighting and charging again, just a bit slower than her top speed - when she got close enough for him to swing, she'd launch an arrow forward at her top speed to try and teleport through the blow, or failing that intercept and try and cut up the beam.

Oh cool. Anthrax. In your lungs. Proliferating.

Eh, it's probably fine, I mean it's not like you can't heal and you've been getting burned with white phosphorus this whole time and you've barely noticed!

Back to violence now!

You cleave off the scaffolding you're on letting yourself fall into the path of VON CHAINSAW'S CRUSHING BLOW. You don't have any magical aerial mobility (yet) so you'll be using the pieve you're falling on to kick off. TWENTY METERS OF BLACK STEEL AND SPIRIT ENERGY CRASH TOWARDS YOU your leap off, black arrow tracing out before you. It's fast, but it can't clear ALL TWENTY METERS OF VON CHAINSAW'S MIGHTY SWING in time.

Time for Plan B then. You drive the arrow into the scaffolding and teleport in, bringing your chainsaw-turned-lightning-but-also-chainsaws down on the improvised weapon. Steel courses through steel and the entire thing just explodes into scrap leaving you facing down MAGNUM VON CHAINSAW once more.

Honestly if it weren't for his name you'd be convinced he's a cute girl. His clothing choices really don't make help, consisting of a short tabbard and a jacket that is somewhere between a hoodie and hooded cloak. The main detail here is that he has pockets, (the hoodie, thr tabbard doesn't have much of anything be it pockets or fabric for that matter) and he's just slid his hands in his pockets staring you down fairly casually.

You're both out of each other's ranges for now and you've got the reach advantage too yet- that's an attack. He's going for an attack you can feel it, your instincts are screaming at you his MIGHTY FISTS WILL RACING FOR YOUR CHEST but how can he do that from his position?

There's an explosion and the Eclectic Summoner leaps from the rafters, a grenade blasting apart his former vantage point sending down a shower of debris and... more grenades. He rolls to the middle of the distribution letting the second wave explode around him, rattled but still in the fight. And that's when the third layer of recursion kicks in, smaller submunitions ballooning out in spherical pustules of force that pop in exothermic blasts that just fucking pinball him around. Soon enough he's bleeding. But his combat pass doesn't kick in. Not just yet.

The lights go off. Darkness, for a moment. Then from above a single stage light shining down upon him. The bleeding has halted, but he bleeds still, not blood but rich red velvet spilling out and sublimating to smoke.

Like the theater's rise, the soliloquy lasts only for a moment, yet it feels far longer.

"<Fuck.>"
"<...>"
"<Bel. Bel...?>"
"<Shit, you're out too?>"
"<Guess I'll have to explain. You got me. But I still get a soliloquy on the way out. One last chance to take you down with me.>"
"<Sera, I don't have a damn clue where he is. Didn't see him in the crowd. He's hiding, or he's got an illusion up. Cloaking maybe. Can't help you find him, but I can do this.>"

((Sera donates 1 Resolve!))

"<Sera, by my first decree, hunt him down.>"
"<By my second decree, hunt him down.>"
"<By my third decree, hunt him down.>"

((The lights will turn back on and the defeated Summoner will exit the stage. He has been defeated, this is just his parting shot. Only Magnum and Sera remain.))

Yuki, you're yeah beginning to cough and feel short on breath. Shef, you've got a slight cough now.
