There's a bang as the plate craters and spalls, but it holds. Okay good first step, but you're not all the way there and the spalling is going to be a problem. Think it's more a product of Faith's magic combined with you not putting enough power into it more than anything else at least.

Faith frowned as metal bounced against Shef.
"Er... I'm not going to be putting any holes in you, am I?"

Shef patted his chest down in a show of checking for injury. "No, doesn't seem like it."

"Don't worry about it. Think I could probably take it even without the plate, what with the adjusted power output. With the plate it should be fine."

It was possible that he was more increasing the actual hardness of the plate, rather than the durability so much, and thus it wasn't holding in one piece as expected? For now though, he tried again, feeding energy into the block of metal for a bit of a longer portion before the attack.

Within that world, she was God. But here, outside of it, her name was Yoake o-Shiri. That was unimportant. She was a Godslayer. That too was unimportant. But what was important, was that she had a motherfucking boat.
And by God, was she going to use it.

"Well... alright. I am not using my special techniques right now, too, so yeah." said Faith cautiously, and then she lobbed another bolt of bright magical energy at the plate in Shef's hands.

This time the plate holds without spalling. That being said you don't think the prep time actually did much since you felt it reinforce soon after you started with everything else being just maintainance. Makes sense given that when you enhance your bullets you don't really have to pump energy into it over a length of time, you simply just do it. This may just come down to practice and getting a better feel for this than anything else.

Forget exploding your swords, you're having trouble even reaching the damn tree, the air in a several meter radius around it has apparently thickened to the point of being practically solid and aggressively springy, to the point where trying to charge in just bounces you backwards.
Minato recoils, shaking his head and wringing his left hand out. Tough shield, so it was. Minato tries again, this time trying to figure out if the field flickers at all or changes when Minato strikes it, to see if there's anything he can exploit.

It's hard to tell based on appearance, given that it's a well, air, but you do manage to wo work something out using a bit of sand, and a lot of effort, namely that if you hit it super hard it will vibrate slightly as the force disperses and reflects as if you were trying to punch a giant extra springy mass of air-flavored jelly. No flickering or anything though.

"Good. Probably do more of it at home or something. . .Faith, I'd like to try ranged now." With that, he planted a plate in the ground, and reached out mentally for it's position, trying to pinpoint where he should place the energy.

If that didn't work, he'd start by touching the metal plate, and try to maintain the reinforcement as he walked away from it.

”Alright. I’ll just, uh...” Faith casually summoned up another one of the weakened blasts of her energy, and lobbed it at the plate.

Aight, so pin-pointing doesn't seem to work too well, at least, not at first. However by pin pointing the location you're able to get touch and move method working over long distances. After that it's simple repetition and tenacity that lets you finally start applying it at a distance, no touching required.

”Hmm... hey Shef, why don’t you try to reinforce a plate as much as you possibly can from range? I kinda wanna try something comparatively.”

"Fine. Gonna go all out?" Shef took a couple steps back, and then spent a little concentrating to find the location of the block. Once he'd found it, he began putting energy in, as much as he feasibly could.

"Don't expect too much from this, alright?"

"Not quite all out, but, yeah, I do wanna see if you can make the plate withstand one of my proper techniques. Freedom... Beam!" She didn't push her all into it, and she didn't use her Regalia to boost it, but nonetheless Faith did proceed to blast a Freedom Beam at the plate on the ground, to see if it could survive one of what her standard attacks really were.

Well, the plate holds and stays perfectly intact. Against the sea breeze that is. Soon as you fire the Freedom Beam, it's just plain gone, along with a lot of the sand beneath it, leaving a sizeable hole in the ground.

"Congratulations. Don't really know what you expected, but there you go. Satisfied?" The plate was basically gone, vaporized in an instant. But how had it felt? What had it felt like in that instantaneous loss of connection with the plate?

"Want to move back to your stuff?"
