Shef rubbed his brow irritably, would this be the only response he got? "We fought, what does it look like? I shot her and punched her in the chest, hence the damage you see. But don't worry, she tazed me, and tried her damnedest to crush my heart into pulp."
As Evi gave her explanations, Shef nodded along occasionally, raising his eyebrows a bit at some of the strategies. This was a maid, heir to some wealthy family who had presumably gotten into no real fights in her life, and this is what she did in her first? It wasn't flawless, obviously, but it was pretty good. Dangerous, but highly impressive.
"I don't really know whether to take the humorless thing as a compliment or not. . . Anyway, first off, the psychic vectorless attacks. Those were your biggest tool against me, in terms of disruption, for obvious reasons. Stop me from shooting, make my portals useless, what could I really do? Obviously didn't have enough power to do that, but you did a good job pressing with that tool."
"But, and this is just a speculation, you could probably have used the crushes more effectively, ignoring the fact that the break is probably more useful. Specifically, you went for the heart, it felt like. Dunno how much fine control you've got, but I'd have gone for either crushing my windpipe, compressing a carotid artery, or maybe going for something in the brain. Each would require increasing levels of fine control, though you could maybe get some weird effects by just putting pressure on parts of the brain. Main thing is the middle one, I'd say, since it doesn't require much strength at all, and would put a normal person unconscious within a few seconds, and instead of making me feel pain that's simple to fight through, more likely to make me lightheaded even if it doesn't succeed."
"Still, good adaptability with going for the trigger finger instead of the gun. Doesn't make a load of sense, but some people would quit that method after seeing it fail, least in their first battle."
"The dirt screens? Good job on those. You're correct about getting in close being better against me, though you do need to be able to handle yourself once you're there. And this isn't a criticism or anything, but I'd have taken a bit more advantage of the dirt to throw some stuff in. Whether that be a ranged barrage, or just a few fast moving objects that would have made me consider dodging or blocking. Gives you a bit of an influence on my movement which you could take advantage of."
"Anyway, moving on. Yeah, a taser's not going to do much, even with a bit of assistance. Speaking of," Shef tapped his earpiece, then spoke to the AI, "What's going to be the procedure for getting these people regalia?"
"Those are seriously going to help a lot, I think. Anyway, honestly, about the strings, I sort of thought it was some kind of spatial lockdown, and the only real reason I went through the portal was because my bullets had actually worked, and because I needed to get out of the tossed dirt. Still a pretty good strategy there, I couldn't really get a great read on it."
"Good choice on going for only one of the guns. Because of my test, I sort of thought that if you had the effect on me, it always applied to both guns. If you can trick people when they're testing your skills, that's always an advantage."
"Now, general criticisms; I'm not going to give too many recommendations, it's your responsibility to figure out how to get around this stuff. Starting off, while it may a bit contradictory, you should be careful about the points at which you use the psychic crushes and breaks on me. They were your biggest bypass of my defensive portals. But. They don't exert any real battle pressure. They don't control where I go, and there's no option except for me to resist my hardest and go fully on the offense to hopefully break your concentration. Once you started relying on the crushes too much, you lost all tempo. If you can't rapidly overpower your enemy, you need to gain, well, basically a feeling of initiative in a battle."
"Same on the bullet shattering, in a way. It's highly useful, but you'll need to accompany it with some more pressure. If you're not putting down pressure, you'll be highly susceptible to regen people, heavy consistent damage dealing/high pressure (which would be me, at least here), and other people with a quicker setup. Not a bad thing in itself, of course. Just means you need a team, and you'll have to be aware of these counters to you in battles where you're alone, and maybe even make efforts to disengage."
"Finally, you've got damn good willpower. You're going to want to cultivate that, as it's an incredible asset when used right. So, that's really most of my thoughts on the matter. If you've got any questions about my stuff, that's fine, make things a bit more fair if we spar again. It's up to you to figure out the balance between scouting abilities on the fly, and abusing knowledge gained beforehand in our matches, depending on what you want from them."
