Shef
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Sugar Skulls]

Another psionic implosion hits your chest as you fire, bullets flying and shattering as they fly. Evi remains untouched. She gestures, and another plume of dirt rises around you. You hear something rushing through the air though not really towards you as you feel the tendrils dig further in.

This meant that the effect seemed to simply destroy outgoing attacks. Probably limited to around him, since the tendrils indicated it probably wasn't tied to a point on the ground. Shef was still okay, in some pain sure, but not at a point where he was in any real danger. So he'd simply perform one more test. Summoning a large portal between his spot at the center of this torn up spot of lawn to one hopefully at the edge of it, in a direction away from where he thought Evi was.

He'd first put the barrel of his RAM to as close to the entrance as the portal as possible, and fired two shots, towards the ground, one full power, one quarter power. Perhaps by jumping over the point at which the bullets shattered, he could bypass the effect? Unlikely, but worth a shot. After that, he'd step through the portal to escape the crater of disturbed dirt.

Make a portal that exits pointing away from Evi, shoot twice into it as close to the entrance to the portal as possible, then step through. Burn a 1, use a 2.

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Sugar Skulls]

You fire and the bullets strike the ground. Interesting... you step forwards through the portal and as it closes behind you, all hell breaks loose. Those tendrils in you? They detonate. Expanding, gouging, tearing. The force hurls you like a ragdoll. And at that same moment, Evi jerkily swings her arm over like a puppet on strings, in her hands is Mary's rifle. She pulls the trigger, and a screen of dust rises around you, soon to be pierced by a hail of fire.

Now, this was impressive. As Shef flew, he concentrated to open up another series of portals. He should be able to shoot again, but for now the portals were more reliable in defense.

Use Room to Breathe[4] to travel obliquely to current trajectory, and fire a few low power shots on the fly.

Through the portals you go, and as you fly you aim, putting your burst right into Evi's chest. The impacts send her staggering backwards and pretty badly hurt by the looks of things, just, one little problem - you're not unscathed either. Another psionic lance strikes you in your unarmored arm, a second one swinging around the side towards you. Evi meanwhile drops the rifle and bends her knees ever so slightly, readying to dodge.

She was actually wearing Shef down, and he was a little conflicted about that. On the one hand, good for her. On the other, some of this stuff hurt like a bitch. Well, it was nearing the end then, on his side, so might as well kick things up just a little. He opened one portal on the side between himself and the psionic lance, it'd be a bit obvious what he was doing, and if unassisted, it'd probably not suffice to redirect the lance heading towards him.

However, it would be assisted, as Shef emptied the magazine of his pistol, still limiting the power of his shots.

Open a non-hyper portal between Shef and lance, and use Rapid Fire[4] towards Evi. Alter to a 4

"Whatever. Let's just move on." Noriko stalked off back in the direction of the manor, trying not to let the massive amount of embarrassment she was feeling at the moment show on her face. Whether she succeeded was another question entirely; she definitely looked flustered, but she was hoping people would attribute that to her "needless" worry.

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)

Your barrage shatters. Every single bullet, destroyed as soon as they were fired. The lance flies though the portal and as it closes, finds itself severed and destroyed. Evi's panting heavily now, but she hasn't given up, not just yet, she gestures again, going for another vectorless strike to your heart.

Yuki was very visibly enthused about watching a pair of awakened duke it out, even if it was just a spar. It was like a TV show except none of them were summoning their inner demons or calling upon the power of vague gods or goddesses. "Come on! You can do it! Almost there!" she shouts, without really being clear who she was cheering for if she just wanted someone to win. She was also ready on the heals.

Evi had nullified the attack, but it appeared to have taken some significant effort. Problem was, well he could just do it again. If he was reading her exhaustion correctly. If the exhaustion was a side effect of something else, well, then the fight was probably over anyway. Even before the last bullet had dissolved into dust, Shef had begun to reload, a second later firing again.

Repeat the exact same thing from before. Rapid Fire[4] with an alteration to a 4, quarter power.

Your barrage begins to shatter but each bullet travels that much farther, until the rounds tearing right towards Evi, or at least, where she was standing, her having managed to throw herself out the way at the last moment. You take the hit to your chest, but it seems weaker than before. Seems like she really is tiring out.

She tries to stand back up, tries being the key word here, but it seems whatever she did, it was fairly taxing.
"G-go Evi! You can do it!"
"Come on! At least make it entertaining!" (Fleur)
"Well you two seem to be getting into this." (Vendelin)

Stretching out her hand, Evi lets out a cry as that familiar corona flairs around her anew, going for another strike to your heart.

Faith watched with an unreadable expression as Noriko stomped off, sighed, and walked over towards Tsukasa. She positioned herself beside Tsukasa, leaned in, and whispered to the Awakened tech expert just exactly how she had gone and fucked it up. ”Alright, Tsukasa... listen... these missiles are tracked by gayness, right? Well, if they had trouble tracking Noriko, and she yelled at you for saying they tracked off of gayness, what does it mean when you argued with her about it? It means that whatever is going on with... uh, her sexuality, you’ve basically made it an issue in front of everyone. Do you understand?”

Now, Shef knew he could probably do the exact same thing again, but the response would probably be the same. No new tactics, simply a battle of power, and one that'd he'd always win if he set is mind to it. Much easier to take a physical handicap than to handicap yourself mentally. So instead, he went with his portals.

A rapid series of them to fling himself towards Evi, firing as he went and maybe adding a punch at the end for good measure. If he lasted that long. The portals might make it more difficult to get a bead on him, or maybe it'd just give her a chance to try something in close range.

Room to Breathe[4] to fling Shef towards Evi in a zig zag path, send off 3 quarter power shots while on the move. Alter to a 6. Maybe an exo-arm punch at the end.

Yoake watches the fight in awe, but is distracted by Mary in the edge of her vision. Damn it! She hated this feeling! Argh!

She strides over to Mary, tapping her on the shoulder. "Hey... About what happened back there... I'm sorry I kissed you. It may have been entirely necessary, and crucial to the mission at hand which is really important probably moreso than the arbitrary nature of a 'first kiss'... But I am sorry, because I can understand how that might feel. In fact, I am so sorry, I am going to train you on how to use those new powers of yours. See, if you get strong, you can inspire people to be friends with you! Even if you are a weirdo! I mean, look at me!"

Regardless of what Mary says, Yoake takes a battle stance.

Shef
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Sugar Skulls]

As you go through the portal, you hear an audible -snap- coming right where you just were. The first portal closes. You pull the trigger, and you feel something just -snap- inside you. No matter. You open fire, a three round burst striking her in the chest, before she can even fall, your fist is in her chest, and I mean in it.

She crumples, right then and there, in your grasp. You feel her breath become labored, erratic, you feel her movement cease, and then...

-snap-

It was, quiet, quieter than the rest. But this one too you feel, a shallow tear splitting across your cheek, blood beginning to ooze from the wound.

Spoiler: Worldlines (click to show/hide)

Noriko
So you go on over to find Shef wrist deep in a maid, her form quivering as she gasps for breath, her ruined outfit drenched in her own fluids. He tears his hand free, holding her steady as an awfully excited looking Yuki gets to work healing the two of them.

Yoake
"Wait w-what? T-that was part of the mission? Hey! D-don't just look at me like that! I-I'm not ready!"
