We need the profits from this trade route more than we need a secret weapon. If our financial situation was slightly better, I might be all for it, but as it is, we cannot afford it.

I think in general artifacts have proven more useful then technological advances, which typically seem to get destroyed/lost after a use or two. So I guess haggle but probably not worth it.
