You query how, as quicksilver is a liquid highly toxic.

"I do not know how. I just know they did. Or maybe it was the One or the Pantheon that decided to spare her life, who knows." You then hold a council with some of the more politically and economically inclined courtiers about this situation. They inform you that the Calvendocian merchants surely had to pass through the lands of the nomads, then the Kiwi, and then through at least one of the small city-states on their way to Tven.

You meet with the messenger first.

"Greetings! I bring news of the siege." And he tells you that the siege is still going as the city in question stubbornly refuses to surrender, albeit the agents already gather numerous rumours and sayings of discontent in the city of Eachos.

"The Marshal thus asks for more supplies, as winter is harsh and the Army has been laying siege to the city for a while." You decide to...

A) Procure and send the supplies to the besieging forces.
B) Lift the siege and conclude this military campaign.
C) Tell them to make do with what they have.

So I'm going to assume that if we decide to send supplies we will at least wait until after speaking to the envoy, so that if he says "war's over", we won't have wasted money.

The tribute we are set to receive by the first city we besieged will pay for it, and if we win the siege, the tribute from that city will mean it pays for itself.
