It was a stupid idea to have anything to do with the dwarf - elf war. I say Estwalf. The Houlandins were known for respecting the dwarves, and maybe he has that in him. After all, they gave enough to the dwarves to maybe have them decide to not assasinate him immediately. Does anyone else agree with me?

The kingdom has long enjoyed their company, and to betray them now in such a manner was clearly the sort of decision that could only be made by a bunch of escaped lunatics and the dreaded 'bay watchers'. When it was then his time to speak, Lord Bir did so decisively.

Lord Heid had just finished his third bottle. He was about to grab a fourth one when he caught the eyes of several other court members staring at him.

After finishing his drink, lord Heid pondered seriously the question of who should become the next duke. Having reached a decision, he grabbed another bottle before passing out from alcoholism.

"Estawalf!" He spoke upon awakening, but he was no longer in the court. Now, he was in a strange exotic land. With curved roofs, curved swords, and paper walls.

It seems like Lord Heid had been kidnapped by ninjas.

As for the Tribute...

A) Send a letter in which you ask for postponement of the tribute for one year.
B) Obediently send the money.

As for the Army woes...

A) Draft some peasants but also call upon King Tinwulf to provide soldiers for security of the Duchy for a year!
B) Let's just push some peasants into the Army.
C) We can do with a smaller force for a year, what can possibly happen?
D) Let's ask our good and merciful King Tinwulf II to provide some soldiers to defend Tven borders for a year.

We have the money; no need to get off on the wrong foot with Tinwulf this soon into our reign.
Pushing peasants into the army risks triggering an uprising, as happiness dropping below 3 seems to do that. Better to ask Tinwulf to lend us some troops. He will surely understand, given the disastrous state our gullible predecessor left the duchy in.
