Why do we want independence? The kingdoms been a pretty good ally thus far, and more then fair to us. Honestly the relationship we've had with them thus far has totally been worth the cash we've paid. To wit, imagine other people we've given more money to but got not nearly as much, like our sons kingdom! And the dwarfs. And basically anyone we've ever given money too because the northerns have been pretty chill.

Lets at least wait until they get some shitty king on the throne instead of what appears to be an immanently reasonable one.

On that note, I kinda feel like independence would be a bit out-of-character for Estwalf as he is. His whole reign has practically been defined by loyalty. Perhaps his son would fight for independence, but it just seems out-of-the-blue for the current character.
