Hello everyone.
I tried to remember if a thread like this exists, but I'm not sure.
I wanted to ask this because I have been doing work that is really boring and doesn't really need a lot of attention and focus, but losing too much attention and focus (like playing any game) will ruin the flow and the results.
I'm interested in games in which you can run on a second monitor and keep a loose watch on it. Games that won't punish you violently for letting it run without too much intervention.
Some examples:
- Astrox Hostile Space Excavation: Some people say it's "offline EVE-like". With two clicks you can let your ship do mining, and four clicks you can dock somewhere and sell it. With two clicks you can let your ship attack everything in its current sector. It's light, and fun. Not the type of thing I'd actively play, though.
- Stardew Valley: Do some fishing, do some work. Water some crops, do some work. Collapse and waste a whole day, do some work.
- The Spatials: Overly simplistic game that I couldn't bring myself to play, but it is really great for this kind of thing.
- Zigfrak / Sky Rogue: These can be easily paused and jumped back into, but I'd rather leave something running.
I think, in summary, I'm looking for games that you can play, or that you could just watch for a while.
One could argue that games like DF, or games similar/from the X series (X³ Albion Prelude) are like that. But it requires a decent amount of 'work' before you can leave those types of games running without intervention.
Thanks for any suggestions!
