THIS IS CAGITHDELER!!!

A year later, I have just gotten through wasting half my legendary dwarves seeing how many elephants and unicorns they could kill before dieing brutally. Then the siege began and I PANICKED (I am not that good at da game and also I had 20 dwarves (migrant cap in place) and no military).

I recruited everyone except a lone Legendary Weaponsmith who I had forge a ton of bronze war hammers. Everyone equipped one and ran off to my front hall (armors are for wimps). The humans weren't attacking so I moved my force of 7 completely inexperienced dwarves (everyone else was sleeping :\) outside which attracted the large group of swordsmen seen nearest to the mountain. I was worried this would be the end of my military but they proved their prowess and struck down the enemy swordsmen with only a severe bruise on two dwarves. Those dwarves rested up while the remaining 5 picked up enemy shields and blew apart the rest of the siege.

Yeah I can't say I could have done it without him. I'm still suprised though that a dwarf completely surrounded by about 5 or 6 swordsdwarves didnt take damage even though all he had was a bronze shield. Are humans just completely useless in battle or something?

It sure looks like it... Damn, those weapons must have been amazing quality. Imagine if they'd been made of steel!

Edit - humans are meant to be better than dwarves because they are larger creatures - they're stronger and they dish out more damage. In this case? Looks like they were flattened.

Since they were using hammers there would not be much blood. If they were using swords or axes, however...

And I've had my fair experiences with human sieges. I think that they are enjoyable to combat, so I would sally forth with my unstoppable force and slaughter them. Here's something I took a screenshot of when my dwarves were charging the bastards:

I got one during year 3. Needless to say, my military suddenly had a jump in draftees.  

Half of my population is now a standing army, with assorted masterwork weapons. No traps. Bring on the sieges!

How do masterpiece crossbows perform compared to normal crossbows?

What about masterpiece bolts?

I'd love to see a dwarf snipe an elephant and cut it in half with a single shot.

I have a dwarf with ultra-mighty, perfectly agile, and superdwarvenly tough in one of my fortresses. I plan on getting a legendary all smith, outfitting him with the best armor and weapons possible, and seeing what he does to the enemy.

Masterwork weapons are 2x as effective as standard weapons of the same material type. Therefore a masterwork bone crossbow with masterwork bone bolts will be as effective as a standard iron crossbow.

Should you hit adamantium and create bolts with it, you will find that your crossbows are 50x as effective. And thats just using a standard crossbow.

Anyhow, use the wiki. It helps.
