It would be nice for designation or selection tools such as the k (view) icon to change colors if it passes over a similair colored tile. Especially up/down stairs.

Trying to view things on my large set of sand up/down staircases is pretty much impossible.

That's an awesome idea! I just started a fortress in a desert and I am having so much trouble locating the selection tool. Perhaps custom colors would be a possible solution?

the cursor should just be the negative color of the tile it's on... Curse these 16 colors!!
