Wooooooooooow. That's... Incredible!
It's like you are the dwarven Archimedes or Leonardo da Vinci. I actually didn't know that world generation is SO detailed.

Autumn and Winter:
The rest of the year didn't include too much mining, I even had the time to take up some carpentry and Vutok (my fellow miner, the father of the boy who went crazy) took up Masonry. With the slaves doing all the deep mining I haven't gone below level one hundred in almost a year and a half.

This happened and it created a stone coffin. I had to give a speech of how by the mastery of a craftsdwarfship he is a free dwarf again. It took me some time before I was fully comfortable around him but now I think every dwarf who isn't a filthy goblin spy will be needed.

A few migrants arrived with the dwarven caravan. We sold two gold statues for the cheaper armor, weapons, food and metal bars though I forgot to request sand for magma pumps. It did take some courage in deciding which statues to sell, I didn't want the two military dwarfs that came with the migrants to die.

This was a really stressful time this year. Booze was running low, we are low on useful metals and these fucking ghosts.

The execution went smooth this year and I feel less and less guilty, especially when I heard them say "Hail Goblin" just before the spear traps sprung up. This shit is going crazy, I hope it was just me but as I found out later Imic heard it as well. I will have to do an inspection on any goblin scholars in the library. There was one other crazy shit around though.

What was the draltha doing, I have no idea.

The military did a quick job of it.

And when I saw plump helmet man run out of the fortress I don't know where to, I decided to do some research on where were they coming from. The slaves haven't finished digging the tunnel into the first cavern, but there was a whole fucking exposed stairwell to the second cavern. Great.

Inspired by the cave creatures I decided to send a slave into the first cavern to explore it. It didn't end well for him.

At this point it was some time in the winter and we started making bronze until I found out there was only one or of copper around. But this happened
This fucking disgusting creature stole almost everything we had that didn't taste like my mother’s sweat, though my mother’s sweat was much better.

"Great" discovery! Go start a fortress they said, it will be fucking safe they said. Whoever said it I will throw in there.
This was even better -

Finally,

Finally Food!

I have started a new slave project, we moved the bone stockpile inside. The area is filling with more and more coffins.

I could start thinking of the pumps finally.

And with this sweet armor stand we finish the year. It’s a pity that he won’t be a miner any more though. I could say we kind of became friends after his sons death.

End of year 251

*Fun fact, other than the staring six, the only other Snow's friend is Vutok the miner.*

I like that place IronForge.

A fortress megaproject sounds good, a volcano embark would be easier.

But with a volcano I wouldn't get to play with all the cool magma pumps, windmills etc.  And what else does a player like more than flooding your fort with magma.

I have an idea.
Oh no.
Thank you.
I take pride in my mad ideas.
You're infectious.
*smiles*
The issue is less you coming up with an idea and more anyone on this forum coming up with an idea.

Especially since much lava has been discussed recently.

There is a reason that TV tropes had "blue and orange morality" listed under the DF community page up until the page was deleted.

What's blue and orange morality?

What's blue and orange morality?
In contrast to black and white. It's a type of morality that is foreign to most normal concepts of things being good, or being evil or bad.

Like deciding to farm Mermaid bones for their value, dwarven child care, or making things out of cats.
