(Not a bad idea to remind me, but in this case it would not have assisted, indeed.  Still got that +1 thing.  I liked the idea of blessings that aren't as stupid as dirt, so I made 'em.  Now I just have to remember 'em!)

(And I'm suffering intermittent internet interruptions.  I think they're mostly in the evening, but not always, so yeah.  Be back!)

Not hungry (or morbid, or informed) enough to collect body-parts.

As people seem to have stood down and meandered around and begun to hit walls, I think I should show willing. Those bone things being fairly safe to handle (as shown by a certain ex-acquaintance of this parish), let's see what happens when used in the correct way.

Roll me up a random mineraleaque target to draw my interest (is that a choice between workstone, coal and opal, then? ...glowstone seems sensibly out of reach, but maybe possible to redisturb the hive-cracks) and see if one of these turkey-bones lives up to its promise wrt rock. Assuming nothing goes wrong, sigh as I realise the (unguarded!) wheelbarrows are some way away. Half in my pack (or as much as will half fill my pack, and no more) and go get the empty group wheelbarrow for the rest.

But I half expect to be interrupted by more events before it gets that far, so no point dwelling on the minutiae... ;)

Not that your character has heard the word, but the one far in the southeast is called healthstone, not glowstone.  I haven't added actual ASCII tiles to the guide, but this post nonetheless has a general color guide.

And do you want to see if you can reach that much depth in the southeast?  You totally can try.

In the event a splitter wand is used, Overseer taps into his supernatural insight and attempts to understand how it works.

Thinko/typo on my part. I knew I meant healthstone there, I'd only just read the appropriate summary. (And then checked the intro post for the absent key, probably where I'd last read the Glowstone text and polluted my short-term recall...  :P)

Was hoping I'd see if the RNG would make it interesting.
Thus I was somewhat abdicating my actual character-choice to your fair hand, and die.  ;)

If you'd force me to choose, the # (workstone, yes?) cluster would be my ideal target, but the coal is nearer, and really as good for the intended in-game test, assuming no-one else saw what I was about to do and advised (for good or ill) otherwise.

All seems reasonable.  It makes a bit more sense to me that the player would be the one to roll the randomness die, but I have made choices for people before.  But on the other hand, you're within general earshot when John comments how opal is nice but other stuff is more valuable; your character might then be swayed.

So I can roll for you, sure, but the role-playing seemed more likely to me.

Related news: tile guide!  I have a palette I use for quick painting of mineral deposits, so I finally got around to tidying it for public viewing.  You might note that there are empty spots left in my edited palette.  Yes, you might note that.

Well, the Workstone seems like my 'best' target.  (And grabbing the empty wheelbarrow first, rather than later?1) But, without guidance, I'm not entirely sure Dwain'd make that choice in preference to the more familiar coal.

1 Still splitting the potential load as mentioned. As before, with the pack, I ought to have something to show for my leap of faith, but the group (insofar as this is a group, which is arguable about) is welcome to the rest, and I personally think they might be happier with a Workstone load than the coal, at least until someone gets to the stage of coking it to smelt something else, 'in the field'.

(insofar as this is a group, which is arguable about)

Yes, this has been a point of contention . . .

But when it comes to "getting guidance," I've remembered there is more than one source of information.  John spoke about opal, yes.  But right when you made that trade for the splitter wands, the person up at the top of the pit shouted "glowstone is better than coal anyway!"  So if you want to work through the character's knowledge, you may not know what "glowstone" is, but apparently you have votes against both opal and coal.

Anyway, by now I need actions from Ragnarok / Ragnarek (PaPaj), Dustan (Dustan Hache), and if ever possible Durenadal (HugeNerdAndProudOfIt).  (Hope things are alright.)

( . . . And my internet connection is really fighting me on this stuff.)

Welcome!  No real-world-ish locations, please, as it's a less-clearly-defined fantasy setting, but more importantly I'll need an icon color:

Who are you?

Name: (Whatever it is, you're human.  This "magical" adventure could perhaps be called "low-magic.")
Icon color: (It doesn't have to be one I used above.  It just has to be distinguishable from everyone else.)
What you did before coming down here: (Standard medieval/fantasy stuff.  Except you can't say "I was a miner.")

You'll see the other active and waitlist players have chosen a bunch of colors already.  It's getting difficult to fit more . . .

Anyway, just a little bit more to await before plunging into the update.  I'm thinking about what I can do to make the opening posts more helpful for player reference.

heal everyone that is severely wounded at least one time, and spend the rest of it recovering myself.

Okay, I've done some checking for you.  Healing everybody would look like this.

Needs:

Dustan (Dustan Hache), HP: 8/16
John (ziizo), HP: 6/16 (already healed once; suffered a lot on this adventure)
Durenadal (HugeNerdAndProudOfIt), HP: 8/14
Ragnarok / Ragnarek (PaPaj), HP: 3/10

Has:

Durenadal (HugeNerdAndProudOfIt), bandages, also some alcohol that could be used if we knew how much of it he'd intended to go to this purpose
Overseer (FallacyofUrist), packaged vitality
Alyssa Alpine (Rautherdir), bandages
Ragnarok / Ragnarek (PaPaj), bandages

Look closely and you'll see only 3 bandages for 4 people.  If Overseer felt like donating the packaged vitality for this occasion, that could resolve it in one go since it's supposedly group healing.

Whoever's donating stuff, I know it can be hard to get everyone's attention, so I might do an update where your character is described as asking people for bandages.

Another solution is for you to use thread only, like you've done once before.  I just assume everyone's "surface kits" have plenty of the stuff.  But it is much less effective, and I'd insist that this treatment take an entire "turn" per person, because ow.

Worst case, I can thread and needle the least wounded of the four, so no bandage donation required.
From the looks of that, it means I will be sewing up the holes those antlemmings put in me.
