Previous -- NextTime for a split. The majority of people are clearly leaving before the rest. So what I'm going to do is follow the majority here in public; I'm sending private messages to all people left behind about what happened back there. One presumes that survivors will follow you; in that case, they'll arrive next update, and it's up to them and their conscience what they tell you . . .
Result: 1, Fail terribly!
Result: 3, Succeed weakly!
Whatever, you're done with this place. The collective group of John, Durenadal, Overseer, and Alyssa depart for the north, taking the majority of the wheelbarrows. John pitches a single bug bat bird carcass over his shoulder for good measure and politeness to the host.
You hear incoherent cries echoing into the distance. Soon they stop.
Alyssa seems remarkably at ease for someone who just abandoned one group of psychos for another completely unproven group, but whatever, you walk along the crevice in silence. The three grizzled veterans of this group are, of course, used to long marches by now. You remember how this one was even longer than usual, liable to take you overnight.
So it is of a certain surprise when the tunnel opens up and evening has only begun.
Day 8, Evening
Where are you now?!Another section of the caves, obviously. You'd have remembered if there were an opal deposit here before.Result: 3, Succeed weakly!
Even though it's brand new to you, there have been other beings present. John, in the lead, spots faint trails of something shiny like snail slime on the ground.
The air smells faintly of . . . vanilla.Snarky GM note: Hey, remember when you last
went down this tunnel and I used double-spaced arrows to indicate it was a double-long tunnel? Turns out I was sneaky and changed them back to single-spaced arrows when you
returned here. This, of course, was a hint so subtle I would have to be a total jerk to expect you to use it, but it did mean that the tunnel had changed before you even went down it. You weren't getting back to town that easily.
And the players who are absent can feel free to post publicly or privately until they are seen. Again, they should be here next update . . .
